Guild Ball’s Fishermen Get a Bit of Colour
February 20, 2015 by dracs
The game of Guild Ball is full of plenty of colourful characters and it looks like they are about to get even more colourful, as the Fishermen Guild show up with a studio paint job.
It is always good to see miniatures given a good coat of paint as it really helps to bring sculpts to life, especially ones that already have as much motion and individuality as the ones in Guild Ball.
The light colours favoured for this team definitely makes them stand out and features some superb shading. I particularly like the tattoo work on the massive player, which seems to make him even more imposing.
Which of the teams do you hope to see next?

Waiting on my models and looking forward to painting and getting into the game play. Will have electronic copies of final rules and cards next week. Looking stunning.
Great looking minis with a fabulous paintjob. That otter is flippin’ awesome! 🙂
Have to say I like them all, The giant chap almost looks like a friendly chap despite the fact you can tell he is thinking “You. Yeah you. You’re next.”
These look really good, I especially like the guy with the beard.
Those are rather impressive.
one guy is missing
in the concept art, 2. from right
That’s Jaq, one of the additional players I think teams that when to studio are the core 6 – hence him not being included.
Wow, those are really nice. The rules look pretty solid as well.
damn these are nice minis … want factor is high 🙂
I wasn’t tempted by the game, but these look really, really nice.
@angelicdespot – you can always go download rules and card dolls to try a few games for free as well. Although I don’t think final version will be up for a couple of weeks. Backers should get ours next week.
Personally cannot wait got 5 teams coming and the renders are translating pretty much directly into the models and looking stunning.
Sorry if that’s going a bit frothy but really looking forward to this, minis and rules.
No froth taken @dags! I hope the game does well – it looks original and interesting, and seems to have people excited. I’ll definitely keep an eye on it, although given how much other stuff I’ve got on the go (or on hold), I’m not going to go out of my way to tempt myself with something else! But as I say, I’ll keep an eye on things. I think it’s a really exciting time to be in the hobby with so many great new games and miniatures being produced. We can’t all like everything, but we appreciate what’s being… Read more »
Trying to sort a camera that can take reasonable pics so I can share my getting into the game and painting once KS arrives.
But absolutely correct too much shiny at the moment.
Don’t think I have seen such sculpts since Rackham pegged it. I shall be collecting these simply for the paint and base factor.
How does this game play? Does it involve a campaign a la blood bowl in which your characters progress depending on how games go, or is everything fixed and it’s a matter of picking who you want to go on the pitch?
@fleetey – its individual games, all characters are named, so no campaign system. Each team is selected by picking a guild and captain (at present only 1 captain per guild but more are due in next wave after release) then selecting a mascot (The otter – or other animals) and 5 players. Starter size can actually be 3 per side. Play is alternate activation, using a resource called influence that is generated by active players. Each player also has a limit with regard to how much influence they can use to prevent the super play. Additional actions can be performed… Read more »
@dags
Thanks very much for the reply. I’m always up for games that look nice / play well and yet have a small footprint (who would have thought a little one would take up so much room and time).
I will say that I’m very keen to see what the other models for the other guilds look like.
@fleetey there are some 3D renders around but will try post when I get my mines, shipping meant to start 16th March
Are they going to be sold individually, or as a whole group?
I can’t help but look at them and think of how well they’d fit into the RPG setting my group plays.
@odinsgrandson they are sold as a starter team of 3, then other inc mascot and big guys sold individually.
