Games Workshop Reveal New Look Age Of Sigmar Liberators
April 3, 2024 by brennon
Games Workshop has shown off the rework of the old Warhammer Age Of Sigmar Stormcast Eternals Liberators that will appear as part of the new edition boxed set. See what you make of this update to the classic hammer-wielding warriors.

The new Liberators are going to be clad in the sleeker Thunderstrike armour that we saw during the launch of the current edition of the game. This style of armour was re-vamped by Grugni in the lore to help the Stormcast Eternals' souls get through the Cursed Skies that had been whipped up by Be’lakor.

You'll have seen this be the armour of choice for all of the new Stormcast that have come out since.

I like the change in the armour, moving from the massive suits the Liberators originally wore to the more fitted design that we've seen in units like the Vindictors. I do think that the helmet could have probably stayed the same as the original though as the nose guard looks a bit odd. Hopefully, Liberators get the same selection of weapon options moving into the new edition where you can include grand weapons or have a pair of swords rather than just the hammer and shield that we see here.
For those (like me) who already have a lot of Liberators, the base size isn't going to change from the looks of it. So, you can still roll out your older Liberator miniatures and just use them with the new rules should you see fit. It seems a good way for Games Workshop to level up the range and I would guess this will slowly come to be the case for all of the older Stormcast Eternals miniatures.
It would be great to see reworked Judicators and Prosecutors in new Thunderstrike armour!
What do you think of the redesign?

I really like these! I was never a fan of the chunky originals. These look great. Can’t wait to see what’s in the starter!
