The Silver Bayonet Sepoys by tinyheadbones

tinyheadbones has been diving into a fun project that caught my eye recently. I really like seeing what people have been doing when it comes to expanding their The Silver Bayonet collections and tinyheadbones has been doing just that. Spurred on by The Silver Bayonet heading to Egypt soon, he decided to bring a new warband together based on the East India Company and the Sepoys.

The Silver Bayonet is great because it gets people to do some exploration of history whilst also then having the licence to go off and dive into the fantastical and the what if. To that end, tinyheadbones was able to do some great research into the Sepoys and explore their origins and where they fit into the geography of the conflicts going on during the period. With that in mind, some great Empress Miniatures sculpts made it to the painting table and got painted up as the start of a new warband of hunters.

I first heard of the Sepoys in the Sharpe novels and was intrigued by them. I really like that tinyheadbones has found a use for them beyond the boundary of India and it has also been great seeing the various characters come to life for his band of hunters as well. As well as the Sepoy above, we've had officers and doctors coming together as well. I really liked the doctor (above right) with his blood-stained jacket. Clearly, he has been hard at work saving someone after a mummy attack.

More miniatures have been coming together throughout the project and that means experts and more making their way into the collection. The process has been detailed for each and I already like where this story is going. I also have to commend tinyheadbones for doing the work when it comes to photography. It really helps to showcase the miniatures and give you a feel for where they're going to be adventuring in the future!

Conquest City States by hazyboy75

Moving from tombs in Egypt to Ea and the fields of battle dominated by the City States, we have hazyboy75's work on more miniatures for their army. Some impressive painting has gone on over the last while including a rather awesome Promethean Giant.

This miniature actually got finished last year but didn't get photographed until this month! This is a properly gorgeous miniature and I really like how hazyboy75 has used the Speed Paints to good effect across the miniature. The neatness helps when using these paints and I also think hazyboy75 has done a really great job of controlling the amount used across the different portions of the miniature. The work on the arm is fantastic in particular and I love that subtle blue/green glow.

The same painting prowess has carried through into the rest of the collection with a band of Selinoi coming together despite hazyboy75 being ousted from their particular safe hobby haven by the family. It doesn't seem to have stopped hazyboy75 from powering on and I think the Speed Paints are working fantastically once again on this band of miniatures. A really nice choice of green helps to set these miniatures apart and hone in on the natural vibes.

The Agema are also looking absolutely stunning.

That armour is pretty sublime and I love the finish. Seeing all the raised detail picked out as well really nails the scheme. It is then contrasted beautifully with that bright blue which helps to make the miniatures pop. A proper ancient-feeling force with a distinct edge of martial might. It's worth checking out the project for more images of these as the cloaks really pop as well.

This entire army is looking fantastic. I should also note the basing is brilliant. The basic sand texture is good and then the little hints of autumn leaf-fall help to make the army feel grand for some reason. Brilliant.

Salute Gaming Board by cowboygamer

Last but not least, we turn to the architectural work of cowboygamer who has been building a participation game for use at Salute 2024 alongside the Ashford Gaming Club. They have been working on a Space Hulk-esque Sci-Fi tabletop laden with interesting details.

A good portion of the terrain that you see here has come together using the power of 3D printing but something to note is that cowboygamer has also been using their own 3D sculpting skills to craft a lot of what you see here as well. It isn't all 3D printing either as you can see with plenty of boshed bits and pieces coming together to achieve the final look.

The board has been coming along very nicely and as you can see, the nearly completed build has epic lighting and all sorts built into it. This is just what you want from a participation game table. Plenty of eye-catching details but easy enough to play on at the same time. The game is going to feature a number of different teams as well so not content with building the gaming table, cowboygamer has also been working on the different warbands that are going to be battling it out on the tabletop too.

Some fun miniatures have popped up as part of the project and if you're someone who has wanted to tackle something like this yourself, it is worth diving into the project and following the progress of the build.
