Games Workshop dropped a few more previews when it comes to the future of the Chaos Space Marines in Warhammer 40,000. Two new Chaos Lord sets lead the way ahead of new Battleforces that will support their arrival in the new edition.

The first kit features a Chaos Lord on foot who can come with a chainaxe, an accursed maul or a daemon hammer. You can also then choose between a plasma pistol and a power fist in the other hand. Options for his head include a helmet or a bare head to make him more intimidating to his foes.

I quite like the daemon hammer as the weapon of choice. It looks suitably "metal". Tie that in with the horned helmet and you've got an awesome-looking leader for your next Chaos warband on the tabletop.

If your Chaos army has more of a focus on getting stuck in and leaping into the fray then there is also the Chaos Lord with Jump Pack.

He is posed as if he is about to land amid the action. He comes with options for a power axe or fist and can have this paired with a plasma pistol or a bolt pistol. Fans of the Night Lords will also note that he can come with a classic pair of lightning claws for slicing and dicing!

Both Lord options that you see here are there to help you build brand new armies with the new Codex for Chaos Space Marines which is on the horizon and should be with you later in the Spring, possibly at the start of Summer.

Each of these new Chaos Lords will be leading a Battleforce that will support the coming of the new Codex.

Veterans Of The Long War Battleforce // Warhammer 40,000

Veterans Of The Long War features the Chaos Lord alongside a solid core of traditional Chaos Space Marines. You get Chosen, ten Legionaries, ten Chaos Terminators and five Possessed.

Alternatively, you can go for the Dread Talons Battleforce.

In this set, you get the Chaos Lord with Jump Pack alongside a motley crew of Cultists. There are ten Raptors, a Daemon Prince, ten Cultists, a unit of Accursed Cultists and the Dark Commune. With lots of different ways to play a Chaos force included in the new Codex, you should find something that suits your Traitor Legion of choice.

A New Combat Patrol

As well as the Battleforce options, you can also go for the new Combat Patrol that will be there to help new players dive into the game.

As you can see, you've got the Master of Possession at the lead of a band of regular Legionaries and Cultists alongside those Possessed who are going to be your hammer. A nice mix of different units allows you to take your Chaos Space Marines in different directions once you've dove in properly.
