About the Project
I've somehow ended up with the Tyranids from the Leviathan box. Kind of need an army to play against my son. Mostly want some big beasties for playing TTRPGs.

Little and medium beasties
The basic plan is to assemble some sort of Tyranid army. Not worrying to much about the rules.
The main aim is to get a nice range of monsters for using in a TTRPG campaign.
I’m only going to use the parts from the box due to the lack of any suitable bits in the bits box.
20 Termagants, 11 Neurogaunts and 2 Barbgaunts got assembled with no conversions.
(I didn’t bother converting the minions)
2 Von Ryan’s Leapers lost there mantis claws.
(will need to add some more arms)
The Winged Tyranid Prime lost its wings.
1 Von Ryan’s Leaper lost there mantis claws. But gained some wings.
3 Barbgaunts lost there ranged weapons. But gained some mantis claws.
(Will need some Greenstuff for where the weapon would attach to the body)
By just doing basic arm swaps I was able to get the medium sized models done quickly. Although I still have to do some bits and bobs to finish them off.
The Big beastie
I had the idea to combine the Neurotyrant, Psychophage and Screamer-Killer into 1 big creature.
This would be a cool centre piece for my Tyranid army.
But more importantly ;
It could also be a good big boss for TTRPG adventures to try and defeat. One that would need a cunning plan to kill rather than a straight head on fight.
I skipped the planning stage and just chopped up all the big bits into segments. Then arranged them in a suitably confusing and alien position.
Need to attach the thorax to the abdomen. Then add more legs and tentacles.
After that I’ll see what else needs doing, if anything?
Attaching Big Bits Badly
After failing to think of a good way to attach the thorax to the abdomen of the big monster/ alien. I crammed some bits of sprue into the abdomen and covered it in milaput. This created a plug that could go into hole (socket) of the thorax.
After squashing the bits together it was a bit of a mess but worked. I tried to tidy up the attachment part with Greenstuff before trying to hide it all with carapace.
2 of the Von Ryan’s Leapers got some extra arms.
Lots of Legs
This build is starting to take shape now I’ve got the legs on.
I am mostly making it up as I go along. I intended to give the brain stork thing tentacle arms. But after attaching the large legs I realised that some leftover mantis claws could be used.
Big Beasties Little Bits
I’m trying to add the final bits and pieces. Also filling some holes and gaps.
I have been avoiding the temptation to add a clear face to the thing. I’m trying to keep it odd, weird and alien.
I need to stop adding bits because there’s nowhere left to hold it any more.
Finishing Bits
Been adding the final bits and bobs to the bugs.
The Big Beastie started spawning little Beasties.
The Von Ryan’s Leaper with wings got a longer tail.
It looked a bit odd with a short tail.
Other bugs with holes & missing parts got some Greenstuff or milliput.
Will have to wait now for good weather and free time to align. So I can get everything primed. Unfortunately both of these things are quite rare.
