Head Through The Hedgerow In New Osprey Folk Fantasy RPG

Osprey Games has another fun roleplaying game coming out later this year in August. Through The Hedgerow: A Roleplaying Game Of Rustic Fantasy has you taking on the role of one of the Fay, tasked with being a guardian of the forests and beyond against the forces of the Dark.
Through The Hedgerow // Osprey Games
Through The Hedgerow is a game of time travel and supernatural adventure (already giving this a tick). You serve as Knights Of The Briar Company who are champions of light amongst the Fay, charged with dealing with the agents of Dark. Your fight traverses history from the Dark Ages through to the Industrial Revolution and World War II meaning that you could find yourself in very different circumstances each time you dive into an adventure. You could be one of the Fay themselves or perhaps a mortal that has been marked for destiny and sent deep into this intriguing world of folklore and mysticism.
As someone who has recently started reading Mythago Wood, I am very much on board for this one. The illustrations from Peter Johnston already look great and I am intrigued by the work of Jonathan Rowe. Mechanically, the game uses a Check & Challenge system that encourages the players to get involved with the storytelling and the flow of the story.
"Seek out powerful magical treasures, safeguard legendary locations, and outwit and outfight the servants of the Dark – wicked Fay lords, fanatical witch hunters, scheming hags, and the brooding Raven Margrave whose undead hordes bring death to the land…"
I think this one could be very fun! What do you think?

The concept definitely turns the premise of Changeling the Dreaming on its head, albeit, it looks like a fight against nonbelief at first blush.
Sounds fascinating! A worthy addition to my shelf of unplayed RPGs!
Sounds interesting but will wait to find out more. Having been bitten by a bad Osprey game in the last 12 months, I’m a little more shy about throwing money at them.
Hello – Jonathan here, designer of ‘Through The Hedgerow’ – thanks for discussing the game ahead of release. Yes, Mythago Wood is a definite influence. I played (and loved) Changeling: The Dreaming and there is an influence from that game in a faction known as the Witch Harrow that seeks to extirpate magic and fay creatures. But I think the game goes down a different sort of rabbit hole from Changeling. I’m putting designer notes together over on http://www.fenorc.co.uk/home/through-the-hedgerow-we-go and there are video playthroughs appearing on https://youtu.be/t8zVqCwPuRk?si=EN37TthBIzVi9Q0b Glad to discuss the game and the scenarios that will be appearing over… Read more »
