Resolution 2023: Race Against Raging Heroes
Goblin Shaman on Runetusk
For the final model of the project I wanted to end on a bang and do a big model. So I went for this lovely goblin shaman riding giant troll.
I was going to just go with straight forward contrast paints, but while the wraithbone undercoat was drying I was reading the latest White Dwarf and in it there was an article on zenith undercoats. In it they also mentioned reverse zeniths, which I had not come across before. This is where you start with a bright undercoat then apply grey and black as the zenith. This gives the impression of the model being lit from below, rather than above. I decided to give this a go so when the undercoat was done I gave it zenithal highlight with greyseer followed by chaos black.
The troll skin was painted iyanden yellow.
The wooden axe shaft was painted wyldwood then drybrushed zamesi desert.
The strips of cloth and the goblin’s robes were painted dark angels red.
The stone was painted basilicanum grey then drybrushed administratum grey.
The horns and tusks were painted skeleton horde.
The axe/hammer head and crystals on the base were painted aethermatic blue then drybrushed white scar.
The goblin’s skin was painted ork flesh.
The wisps of smoke were pianted plaguebearer flesh.
The ropes were painted snakebite leather.
The troll beard was painted apthecary white.
The mushrooms were painted volupus pink.
The base was painted talassar blue then drybrushed white scar.
The metal areas were re-undercoated abaddon black, then painted leadbelcher, then highlighted with ironbreaker followed by runefang steel.
The trolls iris’ were painted moot green.
