twisted abominations taking the vague forms of dogs, following their current master they have eaten well and will continue to do so.

nothing too special here just some models from the gamesworkshop chaos warhound set. paint job wise I chose to stick with straght forwards with orange skin and gray fur covered regions and horns/spikes, all of which were hit with some nuln oil. I gave a bleached bone look to the faces as well as the ears, at least on the one that has decernable ears, as well as a couple of choice bits of mutation. Simalar to other members of the warband I scattered a couple of skulls across the bases as a part of the skull lands basing.

So as mentioned else where the hounds were the test for the newer methord of portraying layer upon layer of ash. the skulls were done in a basic bone colour, though making sure they do not look bleached, what with the smoke chocked skies and all. Additnal to the skulls i added some flattened out balls of green stuff to imply other skulls that are buried under the ash, which were also given the bone colour.

As mentioned elsewhere the ash is a mixture of bicarbonate of soda, cheap white and black acrylic pain, mixed to be gray, and pva glue. this recipie also works for snow if you skip the black, and can even self level when mixed 1:1:1 ish.

so in terms of mutations and such earned in action we have had the following.

After game number one the chaos pupers gain rapid regenaration. In mechanical terms when one of them goes out of action I roll 2D6s if either of them rolls a 4+ then a model returns from the dead. Whilst we have been playing mordheim they have technically ran in units of one however in fantasy battle a maximum of two models can resurect in this manor.

After game two they rolled limb loss, halving their movement charactistic, though this has not been modeled as it would requie cutting legs off of model dogs and frankly that is a level of cruel I am not quite prepared for.

Continueing to follow one of their fell masters, these green skins now fight for a differant evil god. Otherwise it’s buisness as usual for these hooligans.

Now these being orcs and this being the warhammer world obviouslly they are green. As part of your warhammer trivia for the day the darklands, home of the chaos dwarfs, are famous for ash chocked soils and skies that are blackened by smoke, courtesy of the numerous factories. This along side the Dawi-zarr being a bunch of slavers I opted for a paler and not very healthy look, at least compared to other orcs i’ve seen painted. As a second peice of trivia the chaos dwarfs created the black orcs that are a scurge on the rest of the world. These orc minis were very kindly provided to me by warbossD.

Pale skin was followed up with a basic khorne red and squig orange colours for the armour. In following this theme of simple I went with a couple of layers of valajiho metalac steel for the vambraces, black for the bows, to represent the dark wood of norsca, and steel legion drab for all the leather on the boots and quivers. Trousers though bearly visable are in fact yellow, again no particular reason for this it’s just what I did. Of the six orcs I have I opted to split them into two groups with the red on top of one and orange on top of the other. The split here is to make keeping track of seprate groups easier and also they don’t look too out of place alongside eachother with an intention of the armour having a salvaged look.

Next pass was details, though they are not the most visiable in the pictures I have, but trust me they’re their. In words I painted in their teeth and gums as well as some scars acriss visiable skin, in the same pink as the gums. I also painted the skulls on their base in a basic bone with the first attempt at skull lands basing. It dosn’t look great. The methord was pva followed by sand, then once that was set the sand was coloured gray. Notiablly one that’s much lighter than what I would use going forwards with the snow like methord, descirbed under Vanregiaks’ entry.

second game played and our green boys have finnaly earned themselves a mutation sprouting horns. Mechanically this allows every other model to get a gore attack when in close combat, so that wil come in handy when they encounter an enemy that can withstand the storm of arrows shot down range. pictures and description of methord will follow, once ive got round to doing it.

Leader of the blackened skies, a chaos dwarf turned from the worship of hashut and to that of the dark prince.  He now seeks to gain power and influance before leading the enlightenment of his fellow Dawi-zarr before turning all of malus into the same kind of industrial hellscape as the darklands, whether the rest of the world wants it or not.

So Vanregiak here started life as a heroforge design due in large part to the lack of offical chaos short minis and my not wanting to pay ebay prices, as for why I didn't go with a range from a differant company? well I never claimed to be clever or do things the easy way. fortunately for me i have a very cool friend of mine that was willing to do a little editing and subsequantly print me a few of my boy here.So Vanregiak here started life as a heroforge design due in large part to the lack of offical chaos short minis and my not wanting to pay ebay prices, as for why I didn't go with a range from a differant company? well I never claimed to be clever or do things the easy way. fortunately for me i have a very cool friend of mine that was willing to do a little editing and subsequantly print me a few of my boy here.

So as can be seen his weapon was removed and some flame effects were added across the mini. This is to represent his burning body gift that not only means that my boy is made of fire but is also unable to use weapons of armour unless they are magic.

Next step, modeling the ensnaring tounge gift mr. Firerock here rolled. This is just a basic bit of green stuff rolled out flat and with the end cut to vaguelly resemble a snakes tounge; Slaanesh is the serpant after all. Nothing else too fancy at this stage just finally getting round to sticking him on a square and starting with my basing scheme, being the skull lands (guess what they're famous for) around Uzkulak [the place of the skull], by littering some skulls around.Next step, modeling the ensnaring tounge gift mr. So up next blocking out some colours. Intention here was to pull in aspects of the colours assosiated with the chaos dwarfs, the red, and the colours of slaanesh, the purple, as well as making sure that the rolled gifts and mutations stood out, mainly white.

The armour I had no special plans for and since it is techeniclly not their I only saw fit to give it a couple of layers of valajiho metal colour steel, with a darker steel for the inset spoulders. At some point I will probably go back and snaz it up a bit. The edging of the armour and the blades on his left hand are the result of pro acryil royal purple mixed with some metal medium.

The face and other skin I have painted in a dark gray to have slight resemblance to basalt. The idea here being that it is some left over cursing curtacy of the lord of tyranny, And a little refrance to the chaos dwarfs’ sorcerers turning to stone over time as magic is forced into them.

The red I want to say is citadel mephiston red, or somthing simalar. Again nothing special here since i’ll have my work cut out for me later so why not save some time here.

origanally the flames were purple but I ended up not liking the look so they were changed to be white, simalar to future mutations.

A bit of tiding up and some more added colour later we have a short king that looks somthing like this. I went with a ginger beared to help it to stand out against the face and tounge.A bit of tiding up and some more added colour later we have a short king that looks somthing like this. first senario down and we rolled ourselves a crab like claw. So I started with a claw hacked off of a deamonette sprue, since I have a few sitting around unused. I then used green stuff to build up the wrist a little since deamonette arms are very slender, rather approratlly for the deamons of the go fast faction of chaos. I also used some bits of green stuff rolled into sausage shapes to continue the flame effect onto the claw. With a bit of painting in white with druchii purple wash used like a stain, as well as a stripe of purple on the top side. I even managed to get some decent looking white flames with the purple pulled through them. I also got round to painting the base skulls and used a differant way to represent ash that I tested on Vanregiaks’ chaos hounds. The ash is a combination of pva glue, bicarbonate of soda and cheap white and black acrylic paint mixed into a graining gray mush. it looks alright for the layers of ash with skulls visible in varous stages of buried. and i think it looks alright though it dose have a way of getting on some places i don’t want it since i have no elagant way to get it onto the mini. I’ll throw some pictures up as soon as i’ve finnished scraping the stray ash peices off of everything.
