Scale75 Start Off Their 35mm Wargames Series With Orcs & Paladins!
February 11, 2015 by brennon
Scale75 have shown off some of their new 35mm line of sculpts that are perfect for wargamers and skirmish games. See what you think of their Fantasy Series that includes both Shargh the Orc Champion and Irina the Sacred Blade...
Shargh the Orc Champion looks awesome and a perfect Warcraft style Orc, which I love. I like the stance and the work that's gone into the musculature. The beefy oversized clothing and armour also helps make this quite the project. An awesome leader of a fantasy warband.
On the other side of the coin we have the valiant and well armoured Irina the Sacred Blade who looks decidedly more cautious in battle with her rather epic shield and glowing sword. While I think they've got the sculpting down again here and they managed to keep that 'over the top' Warcraft style going (which once again, I like) I prefer the motion that we saw in Shargh compared to the more sedate Irina.
Which do you prefer?

Love Scale75 Paints and there minis are fantastic.
I’m a big fan of the paints too.
Just too World of Warcraft for my taste.
These are extremely – perhaps even dangerously? – World of Warcrafty in look and feel. I like them, but I’m concerned about that scale. 35mm? really?
There’s a lot of 30/35mm wargames out there in the skirmish vein – I think it’s just a matter of time before something comes out where these would be applicable. In the mean time they keep their ‘collectors’ status.

Now that’s an orc! Not some comic relief whack job, but a dangerous, capable critter. If he’s 35mm, so much the better. Can use him as an ogre champion.
Funny coz that’s the exact opposite of what I picture when I think of an orc; small, sneaky and cowardly. Would rather fill you full of arrows from a distance than risk getting up close.
I’m all for Peter Jackson’s LOTR portrayal of the Uruk Hai, as they match closely what I always imagined from the books.
I was under the distinct impression from the book that the only noticeable difference between the Uruk Hai and standard orcs was the the Uruk Hai could move around in daylight. They were otherwise just as small, sneaky and undisciplined as normal orcs.

I love that orc sculpt. Not too keen on Irena and her twin torpedoes though.
Those are very Warcraft style sculpts. Particulary that Orc althought that Paladin does also have that going.
I must agree that the Warcraft really is strong with these sculpts, so much so that I have to wonder what Blizzard will make of them…
‘We will never be slaves! But we will… have spiffy 35 milimeter sculpts made of us!’ 😉
Hopefully the range will do something to differentiate itself from the denizens of Azeroth over the coming months. One thing I did notice was the almost Celtic knotwork designs on the backdrops behind the models. That could be an interesting avenue to explore.
Although it would be really, really bad from the point of view of drawing too much from the Wracraft universe, I can’t help but secretly hope that they do Undead who are a bit like the Scourge. Imagine how epic a Death Knight style model sculpted by Scale75 would be…
Perhaps they should just approach Blizzard for the rights to a tabletop adaptation of the Warcraft game universe and be done with it?
