About the Project

This project is about exploring Wild West rulesets, building a Western town and showcasing some averagely painted miniatures. Hopefully it will end in battle reports.

Timing again!

This has recently come out and now I’m pondering turning the rest of the scenery into something with a more Grimdark/Deadwood kind of feel. I should probably just get them built first!

Currently my miniatures fit nicely in one ‘Really Useful’ Box, so I am reluctant to expand the range. I do have a set of Mexicans to paint however and have been eyeing some of the Knuckleduster printable range.

My timing has been off with this project, painted the cowboys and got Zombicide Dead West turn up with its 50 odd character models. Just after I bought all the metal cavalry Wargames Atlantic released a printable set.

The cowboys were painted a while ago and I’m half tempted to go back and do a little more on the faces…but I’ve probably got around 2000 other miniatures to build and paint as well!

I have a problem.

I’m also not sure what possessed me to buy so much cavalry. But I’ll make it work.

I found that contrast/speedpaint really seems to gel with the plastic sculpts, the cavalry are more traditional acrylics, I have found myself moving away from contrast with these, I seem to prefer contrast on fantasy stuff. I’ve seen some Bolt Action stuff painted with contrast and it just didn’t vibe for me at all.

I originally bought some gunfighters to kitbash with Stargrave kits, while the first set goes together brilliantly , the second one was not so effective, I guess skirts in space isn’t a popular thing.

So this is what I have put together so far, all the roofs come off so they’re a pain to store as well as build, still toying with the idea of painting the railings white.

I have Dead Man’s Hand, some random old thing I bought on Amazon and 7TV to use with these, plus the upcoming Verrotwood  Wild West…I can see me having at these buildings with black and brown rattle cans to make everything dark and sinister , like down the side of my cooker.

Terrain

I have a smattering of scatter terrain printed out and more MDF kits to put together on a day when I want to torture myself.
