Flames Of War Plastic British Infantry & Their Half-Tracks Fight On
February 10, 2015 by brennon
Flames of War is moving back to World War II with the coming of two new plastic kits with both a British Rifle Company and M5 Half-Track Platoon rolling out in plastic. See what you think of them below...
The Plastic British Rifle Company is a great step forward for Battlefront as they're doing away with their big headed metal infantry and changing it to more detailed (from the looks of it) plastic soldiers.
Their nickname on the battlefield was the 'Poor Bloody Infantry' and they were veterans who had come back from the desert fighting to pass on their expertise to the newbies heading over to France. An awesome looking set with loads of character.
The M5 Half-Track was made to try and supplement the need for M3 Half-Tracks and while they were still useful in the field they weren't as defensive as the M3. Their plating was thinner so armour piercing rounds were more of a problem, not great when you're trying to transport troops safely.
Britain ended up with loads of these but more were sent out to the Americans and the Soviet Union too so you had loads of them littering the battlefield. You could well pop these into your various different forces then too.
Will you be fighting for the British?

This move to plastics is looking very promising.
(Although I’ve really come round to resin these days lol – love the weightiness of it)
Yeah leaves a nice bump when thrown
@lafayette ‘s reserve strategy . . . if the table’s not going your way, bean ‘im with a metal miniature! 😀
but so easy to damage an hard to fix. in this case I prefer metal.
Nope! I’ve invested heavily in Late War Germans… bring them on!
BF’s plastics are coming along well (I think we have competition from Plastic Soldier Company and Zvezda to thank for that, in addition to other smaller players).
I cant agree enough with this. Customers/communities can really benefit from market competition and we are seeing it more and more these days. Happy times imho. Not sure how much BF can push back against competition though, as people have been using PSC models for FoW for years. I even had a demo at their HQ club about 3 yrs ago and they didnt notice that PSC models were being used by their own demonstrator, hehe. One thing that I always ponder over though, is that a 15mm man has very little detail at arms length, so you could even… Read more »
There are plenty of other great manufacturers out there in metal Old Glory are great value if your in the US and have an OG club card. Skytrex and Peter Pig do good stuff as well as do Forged in Battle. If you to go a little cheaper then QRF are not bad either
From that picture the guy at the back holding the sten looks like he is picking his nose…. I shall call him Parker
Just can’t get excited about WWII/modern 15mm, although it is the obvious choice for gaming table constraints. There are so few GOOD 15mm figures out there (not including the armour). Seems some use the scale as an excuse to turn out really bad ones.
I’ll pick up a box of these, they’ll complement my PSC and OG collection perfectly! 😀
Is this the end of an era. Have we finally reach the sunset of the Era of the Cabbage Headz? 😀
They are so British 😉 Yes, quite, quite 😉
Dunno what Brits you know but a guy talked like that around where I work they get carved up
Without so much as a ‘tally ho’ I’m guessing.
Nah, the Brits I know are really awesome guys. The ones I mentioned are the stereotypical ones… 🙂
more like “you wat blud you … (words rhyming with the baseball bat move to slightly hit the ball… ) you hav’ this” knife in the rips
Wow! All this violence! 😀 Has @lafayette become a “Bad Boy Yardie?”
(I have no idea what I’m talking about, I’m just quoting the movie “Snatch”). 😀
@oriskany I know “bees and honey” from Hooligans 😉
