U-BOOT: The Board Game has returned to Kickstarter from the team at PHALANX and it's bigger and better than ever. If you missed out on this excellent World War II board game the first time, this is your chance to dive in and pick up the Collector's Edition complete with awesome plastic submarine!

U-BOOT: The Board Game Kickstarter // PHALANX

For those not in the know, U-BOOT is a board game where between one and four players take on the role of Captain, First Officer, Navigator and Chief Engineer on board a VIIC U-Boat. You will need to work together and get a grip of your roles onboard the submarine as you coordinate your actions and look to complete mission objectives. These could range from ambushing convoys through to regular patrol duty and laying mines in enemy waters.

These missions can be played out as single scenarios or you can tie them together into a full campaign if you prefer. Aiding all of this is the companion app which provides you with a challenging enemy AI to go up against and also throws unexpected twists and turns at you as you undertake your missions. It also acts as an essential instrument for your crew as you can use it to represent the periscope, hydrophone and the enigma machine!

The app also now features a mission creator so you can come up with your own custom scenarios and share them online to make the game easier or harder for those in the community. It will be intriguing to see what people create!

Whilst the app plays a large part in gameplay, the core of the action still takes place on the board as you move around and complete your actions with the hope of completing your missions without getting sent to the bottom of the ocean! As mentioned, this is a great opportunity for you to dive in and pick up the game if you missed out before. You can either go with the cardboard version of the U-boat submarine or you can get that impressive plastic 1/72 scale submarine which is just dying to be painted up!

I think that John might have gone all in on this one and perhaps we might see a tutorial or two in the future where he shows off painting the submarine and it's crew!
