About the Project
Way back after the Dropfleet kickstarter delivered I was lucky enough to go to Beasts of War HQ for a Dropfleet weekend. After the high followingit's release Hawk went to TT Combat and the game quietened down a little. Over the last year I was intrigued by some other space battle games thinking I could use my Dropfleet fleets. But after going through different rulesets I and another believer foundourselves hankering for Dropfleet again. After playing a couple of games at our FLGS we found a few people expressing an interest in the game. I have loads of Dropfleet stuff. I love Hawk Dave's approach to designing miniatures and even when not playing the game I'd pick up a Dropfleet special ship whenever I saw TT Combat's store at a convention. So, I've been pushing on to finish a lot of the figures I have and expand my Scourge force.

Pausing for now
Going to pause this for a bit as I have some other stuff I need to get done. Conquest tournament on the 18th Is occupying my efforts.
The Scourge Battleship
I’ve had this set aside for ages to paint. Love the model and I magnetised it in order to use both variants.
Then I lost one set of the magnetised bits. Grrr. Ofcourse I found those parts after I’d finished painting it.
The ship is supposed to be an older type. I tried using a marble effect using wet wipes that had been dried out and stretched to make holes. I think it worked ok. I didn’t drybrush every ridge on the mini but selected a few and tinted the highglights with fluorescents. I was hoping this looking like it pulsed with energy. Otherwise it’s painted in the same way as the Scourge ships.
More Scourge!
Got a bunch more Scourge. I wanted to widen the force a bit and picked up some Lamassu barges and both Incubus and Succubus destroyers. I found some more Scourge cruisers that needed a bit of a gloss coat as well.
The scheme is straight forward. Prime black and flick some white paint with a stiff brush to make star style reflections. Airbrush lighter areas up to white. Tint the whole thing with Miniataire Plasma Fluid. Airbrush the tips with Vallejo game air squid pink and highlight weapon systems with a lighter orange.
The Anomaly
This ship is supposed to be a mysterious vessel that can appear during a battle. Any ships getting too close may disappear.
I wanted this to appear a bit different. I used some Green Stuff World Tinplate Chrome paint on the main panels and did a simple dry brush of light metallics on the rest of the body. I made the red lights basecoating white and tinting with GWs red glaze.
I wanted this ship to appear different by being very shiny. No mat coating this ship.
Strangely enough even with a flash the ship doesn’t look so bright in the pics.
The Hyperyacht Auroyum
Another interesting, limited edition ship. It’s chock full of windows which took an annoying amoun of time to paint,
The hull was primed black with a light, gray highlight from the airbrush.
The metallic section was drybrushed in the same manner as described in the PHR secion.
The windows were very tedious. Based with white and then red I finished painting part of each window with a mix of white and sunny skintone.
The Palatine Command Barge
A Dropfleet special edition ship. These were overengineered flagships created before the Scourge arrived. The model is cool and has a different look to the usual humand factions.
The paintjob is mainly simple basecoats and drbrushing. I used Tamiya tape to mark out the areas for the stripes.
Completing the Kickstarter
I bought every faction available for the Kickstarter. In addition I bought a battleship and a set of corvettes.
By the start of this project the only one of those fleets I hadn’t completed were the PHR. I was going to demo this force to a friend so I decided to try and finish it quickly.
The ships were primed white to make painting the smooth, off white hulls easier.
Main hull colour: Vallejo Deck Tan
Weapons and the rest of the hull: basecoated black. Progressifve drybrushes of Vallejo Metal Colour Steel, Silver and Chrome.
Blue light / energy colour: basecoated white then tinted with Badger Minitaire Plasma Fluid.
