As John’s turn 3 starts he can’t do very much moving as most of his remaining squads are stuck in combat.  However one of the guardsmen squads by the landing pad is still free to move so they push up the stairs onto the landing pad in order to confront the sisters of battle at the top.  Unfortunately for them they were just outside of the range of the objective marker so the sisters still held the landing pad for now.  As for shooting, John had a few pistols fired into the novitiates dealing little damage,  the guardsmen on the landing pad fired their lasguns on full auto into the sisters at the top dealing a few killing blows!  the sentinels being vehicles are able to fire their weapons while in combat so they fire off two frag grenades killing a few sisters in the process!  The Cadian command squad reminds themselves that the planet broke before the guard did so they ready their chainsword and power fist and charge into the novitiates in an attempt to help their fellow Cadians!  The power fist and chainsword prove to be useful tools as they despatch a couple of novitiates with relative ease!  The sentinels’ chainsaws cut open a few of the sisters of battle but there are still more to deal with before they can reach the compound.  That’s not the end though.  The sisters get to return blows with the guardsmen attacking them in an attempt to inflict more casualties!  The novitiates strike back at the command squad killing off the final two leaders in a flurry of blows.  The battle sisters entwined with the sentinels manage to find a weak spot and bring one of them down!

And with that turn 3 comes to a close!

At the start of turn 4 Shay’s novitiates need to take a battle shock test because there’s only two remaining in the squad.  They hold their rosery beads tight and pray to the Emperor passing the battle shock test!  The only thing moving this turn is the immolator which moves onto the comms tower objective securing it for the sisters.  But the sisters haven’t won yet, they have to hold the objective until the end of the battle round so John will get the chance to gun them off of the objectives.  The novitiates open fire with their pistols into the guardsmen killing a few.  The sisters of battle securing the landing pad finish off the wounded guard squad opposing them with their bolters and flamer.  the novitiates fight the remaining guardsmen, fatigue getting the better of them as they deal no damage to the guard.  the sisters with Canoness and Imagifier batter away at the remaining sentinel but can’t deal any damage.  the attack backs from the guardsmen do little damage only managing to kill one novitiate.  And finally to finish the game off John has his sentinels shoot a frag grenade into the sisters killing a couple but alas it is not enough and at the end of turn 4 the sisters of battle are victorious.

John and I both enjoyed our first crusade game quite a lot and we’re hoping to get another game on next Saturday at OTT so stay tuned for more battle reports!

 

Hopefully they won’t be as bloody long as this one was I’ve been writing for hours.
