I’ve found solo wargaming to take up very little time for actual gaming. Some time to prep for the game, such as creating warbands, reading the rules, and making reference sheets and stats to put on index cards. Majority of the time for painting miniatures. What a game does is focus you on what to paint, and then you might paint some additional stuff (eg. other bits on the same sprue, assembly-line of ten of the same models when you only need two). Yet, if you select a game (eg. generic fantasy) that you’ve already painted most of the mini’s for, you’re not faced with an overwhelming number of mini’s to paint.
So, with scenarios taking 30 minutes or less, I’ve finished campaigns for “Lasting Tales”, “Five Leagues from the Borderlands”, “Sellswords and Spellslingers”, and now I’ve started another “Lasting Tales” campaign. Found out about “Doomed” and will put together that Battle Systems “Shanty Town” that’s been sitting in the corner of my gaming room for I don’t know how long… 😛
