Footsore Miniatures Loose a Set of Saxon Archers
February 5, 2015 by dracs
Footsore Miniatures have released a set of Late Saxon Archers to loose their arrows in your dark age battles.
These archers are sold in packs of four, chosen randomly from among the twelve distinct sculpts available. The models themselves each manage to have a sense of individual character.
Lacking the armour of the more well equipped and wealthy Saxon soldiery, these archers will nonetheless prove a useful addition to any warband, providing a decent level of ranged attack for dark age era games like Saga.
What are your opinions of Footsore Miniatures' Late Saxon Archers?

Those are nice addition to go against some vikings.
Hmmm… How can I justify buying some of these?
You want them, you have a use for them (there will always be a use even if you cannot name it right now), you have free cash – simple
lol. Thanks for the encouragement @dags , but it’s not that simple. I’ve already got a bucket of Wargames Factory Saxons put together as a peasant levy. They obviously don’t look as good as these, but TBH I don’t think I could even squeeze more into the cabinet.
Ah the dreaded lack of space, something I am currently battling, and trying to avoid admit I my have ….. gulp ….. too many models 🙁 Although these are tempting me, I think they show how simple detail and well crafted sculpts can really produce some amazingly characterful models.
Love ’em – really tempted to make an early Saxon warband though, or an Arthurian Briton army. Love the stuff from Footsore.

Fine. Go on then.
For rank & file, these guys look very characterful-Footsore are obviously not slouches or complacent when it comes to detail, even for figs that may potentially be deployed in larger numbers (archers, spearmen, levys etc). Nice to see the grunts getting some love instead of most of the focus being on Generals/characters.
Really like these and can see me picking up a pack or two very soon!
