NATO Forces Coming Soon To World War III: Team Yankee

With the Nordic Forces being rather well serviced for Battlefront Miniatures' World War III: Team Yankee, the focus now shifts to the NATO Forces fighting during this Cold War Gone Hot. Take on more Soviet forces in 15mm with a bunch of new miniatures and rules come October.

7th October will herald the coming of new army lists and more for those looking to stop the Soviet menace from overrunning both Europe and the Americas. As Battlefront has noted, a variety of factions have had their numbers replenished and been refitted with new equipment. Over in Europe, we're going to be seeing new releases for the ANZAC, Dutch and French forces alongside the Belgians.

Whilst the battles are heating up over in Europe, there are still troubles in the Americas. The Canadian Home Guard have been called up to try and fight off the Soviet invasion that has hit home soil.

I do like that Battlefront are making sure to look at both the events in Europe and what's happening across the pond. It gives the idea of a proper world war exploding across the various continents and means that you can tell lots of interconnected stories.
This all means that we're going to be seeing new boxed sets coming up for the month of October and a new NATO Forces book. I think John and Shay are going to be very excited.

Gawds Battlefront aren’t hanging about this year. I ought to get those Soviets painted one day.
The “Canadian Home Guard”?
Hilarious. Maybe Battlefront will do the Canadians justice with a Kiowa recce helicopter this time. At no point did we use the Bo-105.
The map under the Canadian photo is centred on CFB Suffield … which is where the British do their training.
And whoever painted those Cougars, didn’t bother to look up what they ACTUALLY looked like.
This isn’t a “historical what if” game, it’s fantasy.
Nah, hard pass.
The biggest problem for BF is that the game looks a bit daft on the table. Tanks side by side in lines with no gaps like a pike block.
Fully agree; the ground scale makes ZERO sense. Also, there aren’t any tanks in Canada at this time, as all were in Germany with 4CMBG, excepting the training tanks in Gagetown at the Armoured School. The Leopard C2s didn’t come back to the Canadian regiments until after the Kosovo deployment in 1998-1999. Today, all the tanks are concentrated with the Strathcona’s, plus the Armoured School. That’s how few Canada has. Three “armoured” regiments, one with actual armour. And Canada fobbed off 8 Leopard 2A4s to Ukraine. Not to mention France wasn’t a part of NATO from ~1967 until 2009…
Battlefront should try getting some facts right, or just sculpt Goblins, Elves and Hobbitses fighting in equally fictitious armour.

Final points about silliness.
Date of invasion is “25 Nov” on the map; no one apparently has been to western Canada in November. The temperatures can be nice, but are more likely to consistent with the freezing at night and melting mud like the German ‘Barbarossa’ failure point.
Finally – really – Cougars are RECCE vehicles, not APCs; why there are infantry slogging alongside is beyond ridiculous. Dismounted from M113s, sure. Not from Cougars.
Sigh. Out.
Sadly not much new plastic kits, just recycle existing kits for these nations. It makes them less distinctive. Those french scout vehicles look okay but resin/metal kits are not good so looks like this is a pass.
