Happy Sunday CoGs and OTTers!
Just the thing to watch after midnight as I paint. It’s been very insightful to consider the simple things as they are. Martial arts and miniatures, who knew?
P.S. John has his own Pallas Athena moment and it’s awesome
It really was a bloody great chat
I thought I was particularly insightful and gud
You are the inspiration that keeps this community in line
Who needs Statler and Waldorf when there is Tim and Gerry
I do! I need to get my material from somewhere!
Happy Sunday! Wow, what an XLBS. Tommie is pure inspiration. I’m taking a long hard look at myself in the mirror today – free wisdom like that is priceless. I have realised for myself recently that the thing holding my painting back is my inability to get paint the right consistency. Tommy had made the penny drop that what I’ve been doing is looking for (and using) techniques that let me circumnavigate that step. When what I should have been doing is practicing that step. Part of this is definitely that there aren’t many good tutorials on that – at… Read more »
P.s. just ordered the book!
John did that as soon as the show ended
What a bloody great show that was for inspiration. Tommie’s stripping it back to the simple things is definitely something I need to keep in mind more. It’s so easy to get caught up and overthink it all.
Thanks for the butt-butt – the fleet narrowly avoided victory yesterday, so this is a lovely booby prize for them to rebuild their spirits. And yes, the Nightstalkers will probably be what gets used for the KoW games this month.
I think the facemunchers may be my go to as well. Although with Paul, PAAAUUU! playing roblins I may go northern alliance just to have the “good” side for any games we play.
It’s Sunday morning it’s 9ish O.clock it’s crackers jack time.
Rock on Tommy.
Yay long live the Smurfs.
He’s fantastic looking Tommie.
An on this shelf is the evolution of Ben’s paint skills.
The laser cannon victim fodder.
Love the t-shirt John is that not a Cyberman?
Congrats on winning the gold button guy’s.
Interesting discussion. I’ve never tried to be a good painter. As long as its enjoyable that’s all that maters. I went to school with Neil Green the eavy metal painter who was mentioned. I still have a couple of skaven he painted for me back in the 90s
So when is the video coming out Tommie because I bet Gerry will hound you to make one?
Fab show guy’s.
“Not necessarily to spaff over” Tommy saying the quiet bit out loud.
Happy Sunday! 00:00 Who’s the new guy? Hey new guy, bring us old farts some coffee will ya? XD (honestly I never heard that name before… weird) 01:15 guilty as charged 02:00 ex G’Wullu… there’s a lot of those recently. 06:00 teaching… my personal nightmare 11:15 Tourturement! 21:15 This is madness 23:30 Use all the greens! 30:30 you can’t stand on just one leg! 31:00 Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeegs (but as in fleeeegs) 38:00 You’ve heard about butt plugs now be ready for book plugs! And why am I not surprised that Dave is with this again. 45:30 Fishies! 52:30 Child work is… Read more »
Happy Sunday.
That was a great show, and Tommie is very inspirational (I already have his book).
I generally like the way I paint but I’m always up for improvement and trying different techniques. I love looking at other people’s painting and see them more as inspirational rather than competitive. Buy yeah, the only way to get better is by doing it.
Tommy’s tuition sounds like 90% therapy. I may sign up for a session or two!
Terrific episode, fellas. Genuinely inspiring (and an antidote to all the gurning on the frontstage show :))
think how I felt
Thank you. That’s the best episode in some considerable time. Insightful and thought provoking. I’ll come back and rewatch this but first I’m off the go and enjoy some painting which is clearly a key to getting the most out of my hobby.
Happy Sunday, cracker of a show and yes i have now ordered his book…..
Thanks so much!!!
I’d love to hear whuch parts help you the most once you’ve worked through it.
T
Wow, thanks @brennon and team! Super honored and a great surprise! 😀 😀 😀
Goram’s Armada is amazing!
What a fantastic show, can we have more guests like that please. It was really interesting and insightful and as has been mentioned mind blowing… Would love to get a training session from Tommie I’m sure he could help me get my painting up another level..?
Great show guys. So impressed by Tommie’s philosophy and teaching skills. The best thing for me though was John’s silence throughout the meat of this. You could almost hear him soaking up and internalising Tommie’s thoughts. Shows an awesome attitude and strength of character. Kudos.
Absolutely fantastic video guys! Finally, finally – hearing someone talking about loading the brush! This is game-changing. Almost nobody ever mentions this; getting your paint right and loading your brush – that’s two-thirds of the task and nobody (hardly anyone) is talking about it. The biggest improvement in my painting was when I started using a *bigger* brush – thinning the paint slightly and mixing colours (which accidentally meant I was loading and shaping my brush). Painting was suddenly enjoyable again. I’ve long been an advocate of people teaching how to load paint -into- (not just onto) a brush. I’ve… Read more »
