Blood & Crowns Kickstarter // Firelock Games
The idea of Blood & Crowns is that it allows you to play out the various skirmishes, raids, sallies, acts of piracy and plunder and more that were fought in the shadows of some of the major battles of the period. You won't be commanding faceless hordes but instead individual warriors clad in armour, fighting heroically in the midst of bloody skirmishes.
The Hundred Years' War // Blood & Crowns
Blood & Crowns, much like other games from Firelock's collection, has been designed so it's open to those who love Historical wargaming and those who potentially have never touched a game like this. If you liked the idea of Medieval knights and chivalry from other games, maybe even Fantasy ones, this might appeal to you and could even get you interested in learning more about the period.
The book is aiming to bring you lists for running the forces of England, Ireland and Wales as well as Scotland, France, The Spanish Kingdoms and the Unaligned Free Companies and Pirates. You always need some miscreants to throw into the mix to do the dirty work!
Joan Of Arc // Blood & Crowns
There are some fun and unique mechanics in Blood & Crowns that are tied to the period. For example, there is a focus around capturing leaders and characters so that you may earn renown and perhaps even let your opponent regain their honour through rescues!
Games are played out over the course of six game turns using a variety of scenarios and the card-driven initiative system that Firelock Games are known for. You can win control of a round and determine the order in which players activate their units. The actions that a unit can do are determined by the cards used during the bidding phase alongside the unit's experience level and condition. You can move, make ranged attacks, charge and engaged in deadly melee combat.
Blood & Crowns Rulebook // Firelock Games
When battle is joined, players conduct six game turns consisting of several rounds during which they bid for control using a dynamic, card-driven initiative system. Winning control of a round allows a player to determine the order in which players will activate their units. Rounds are played until all units have activated, which ends a game turn.
Additionally, the rules from Blood & Crowns allow you to fight out skirmishes on land through rural environments on the continent. But, you'll also find rules for playing out fights on the sea in barges, cogs and more.
Blood & Crowns Pledge Options
There are a number of pledge options for you to choose from when it comes to Blood & Crowns including getting a digital version of the book and a physical one.
Knight Pledge // Blood & Crowns
Noble Pledge // Blood & Crowns
You can also go up a level and get yourself some new accessories to use alongside the rules for Blood & Crowns.
Magnate Pledge // Blood & Crowns
Going up higher with your pledge gets you the Rulebook plus Unit Deck, Token Set, Activation Deck and all of the stretch goals that get unlocked throughout the course of the campaign. The aim is that the book and more will come out around February 2024 so you've got plenty of time to collect your armies.

It should be noted that this campaign features no miniatures. You can get loads of figures from companies like Perry Miniatures, Claymore Castings and more in plastic and metal. You could also pick up miniatures from any number of 3D sculptors.
Are you going to be snapping up Blood & Crowns?

I’m tempted, have they said anything about the number of miniatures need for this?
Some of the images on the Kickstarter show around 20/25 miniatures per side. Might be a good guide.
It’s points based, so it varies. You can play with as little as 15 models a side, but average is probably around 30.
Thanks, I was looking at some of the very nice Perry’s miniatures. Still very tempted
I am also very tempted, since I have played their other games and I have enjoyed them. The 100 years is something I have always wanted to do. My only fear is the postage costs. From America, postage can be quite hefty and the rates will only be published during the pledge manager process. So I will probably go with the Squire Tier for now and wait for the postage rates before I make a decision.
Might just have to go with the Scots to be in the minority
Looks good.
