August 29, 2023 by brennon
Privateer Press have made three Core Army Starters available for you to snap up to get you going in Warmachine. We've had Cygnar and Orgoth but now Khador, Dusk House Kallyss and the Brineblood Marauders are all ready to scoop up!
Kapitan Irali Borisyuk // Warmachine
We start with the forces of Khador who get the new Winter Korps set for you to snap up. Led by Kapitan Ilari Borisyuk, this force is made up of powerful Warjacks and suitably hardy soldiers to help defend their lands.

This set comes with a whole bunch of 35mm miniatures in 3D Printed Resin. The Warjacks get a bunch of options for you to choose from and you'll also get the magnets you need to swap those options out nice and quickly.
- Kapitan Ilari Borisyuk Warcaster
- Dire Wolf Heavy Warjack (4x Head 8x Arm/Weapon options)
- Great Bear Heavy Warjack (4x Head 8x Arm/Weapon options)
- 2x Winter Korps Infantry Unit with Support Weapon Options (12 models)
- 2x Winter Korps Infantry Standard

If the forces of Khador are not your thing, you might want to go for the brutal and efficient forces of Dusk House Kallyss led by Hellyth, Scyir Of Nightfall.
Hellyth, Scyir Of Nightfall // Warmachine
Born from the ashes of the Iosan empire, these warriors are seeking to redeem their doomed people and have a proper anti-hero vibe and edge to them which is awesome to see.

Inside this set, you have...
- Hellyth, Scyir Of Nightfall Warcaster
- Ghast Light Warjack (4x Head 8x Arm/Weapon options)
- Eidolon Heavy Warjack (7x Head 3x Arm/Weapon options)

- Soulless Hunters Unit (5 models)
- Dreadguard Slayer Unit (3 models)
- Seeker Adepts (3 models)
- Seeker Wardens ( 2 models)

Of all of the sets that have come out so far for Warmachine and the new edition of the game, Dusk House Kallyss has properly caught my eye. I think the new look to them is really intriguing would be fun to paint. I really like the idea of building a lot of purple into the paint scheme for these on their robes and such.
Last but not least, we have the Southern Kriels Brinebloods Marauders who are led by the enigmatic Captain Firequill who is their Warlock.

I really thought that the Trollbloods were going to be the faction that caught my eye for Warmachine and whilst they don't disappoint, they still come in second compared to Dusk House Kallyss. I still think that folks are going to have a lot of fun painting up these piratical individuals.

Inside this set, you get...
- Captain Firequill Warlock
- Reef Troll, light warbeast
- Deepborne Dire Troll, heavy warbeast
- Marauder Crew, unit (x2)
- Pyg Boarding Party, unit
- Galley Crew, unit
- Bosun, command attachment
- Quartermaster, command attachment
- Surgeon, solo
It's nice to see the classic "Hordes" armies finally making an entrance in the new edition of Warmachine and doing it in such style. Nailing such a good theme for these miniatures was key and I think Privateer Press have achieved that. They feel new and fun rather than being a simple rehash of what has been done before.
All three of these sets can be picked up from Privateer Press and make armies of fifty points so you can get started in Warmachine. It will be interesting to see how Warmachine develops now the game has a host of factions to get you started and things are picking up steam.
Which of these three forces would you pick?
"Which of these three forces would you pick?"
The Khador have the classic appeal of the force but the Marauders are so damn quirky in their appeal to make it a hard choice between them in fun to paint.
That troll Captain is one glorious model
