Dark Sword Miniatures Take You On A Fairy Tale Adventure
February 4, 2015 by brennon
There's quite a few new additions to the Stephanie Law Masterwork collection from Dark Sword Miniatures, eighteen of them in fact. We've collected them all here for you although if you want to see more you can head on over to their store page...
The first big one is The Lovers which you can see above. This is just in time for Valentines day and if you were so inclined you could pick this up and paint it for your significant other. A lot of these Masterworks aren't typical wargaming fare but the quality of the sculpting is so good you have to take a closer look...
The focus is certainly on the fairy tale and the mythological with a lot of different female characters from the classical period as well as those more recent in the grand scheme of things. For a painter this should give you a good chance to learn about painting different skin tones and plenty of work on fabric.
A lot of the painting on these has been done to give it a very warm tone and feel but it would be interesting to see what the miniatures looked like with a more eerie and dark fairy tale design. I know that we get a lot of that elsewhere in the hobby but it would be interesting to see the Queen of Hearts or Tam Lin for example painted in a way that betrays a more dark and twisted natural state.
What do you think?

I really love all of those. How ever Eutrepe is my favorite from those.
Those all look like Patrick Keith sculpts. Man, Dark Sword Jim knows how best to use his sculptors.
And Jess Rich’s painting is superb. I bet she picks one of these sculpts for her Gencon painting entry this year (they just look like her kind of mini, you know?)
I’m sure I’ll need to pick up a few of these. Don’t know which ones yet, they all look so good.
I picked up most of these from the Kickstarter. My wife wanted some more feminine minis instead of using mine. The detail is astounding.
Stellar stuff !
beautiful minis, and gorgeous paint work.
