Out of curiosity I have looked up the average walking speed of someone my age and calculated how long it would take for myself to walk one way to work.

Two and one half HOURS! YIKES!!!

I probably walk faster then the average person, (my wife has always complained that I walk too fast), but there is no way that I would voluntarily start and finish my day walking six miles. Also, only half the mileage is protected. The rest is exposed to what ever the elements of the day are and the roads leading there on the second half have no sidewalks. High speed roadways and walking are always sketchy.

But it is good to know how long it would take to walk if I found myself in an unplanned excursion. ?
