A new edition of Warhammer 40,000 means some new Starter Sets for those wanting to dive into the game. This means it's a good time to get your discounted 9th Edition Starter Sets if you're looking to snaffle up some Space Marines and Necrons! The new set of three Starter Sets from Games Workshop offers up different ways for you to get stuck into the Grimdark Future with either Space Marines or Tyranids.

The first of these sets is the Introductory Set which comes with a squad of five Infernus Space Marines who will be going up against ten Termagants and a Ripper Swarm. You'll also note that this Introductory Set comes with paints, clippers and a brush for painting up your miniatures!

There are also dice, a range ruler and a booklet which gets you started in the game. You'll also get a paper mat alongside cardboard walls and tokens which will be handy for learning the game. This is a good introduction to Warhammer 40,000 for someone very new to the game or perhaps a nice way for you to see if you like painting Space Marines and Tyranids.

You can then take things to the next level with the core Starter Set for Warhammer 40,000.

This set says goodbye to the paints and gets you started with more miniatures. You'll get the Captain in Terminator Armour alongside five Terminators and the five Infernus Space Marines we saw before. On the Tyranid side of things you get a Tyranid Prime, three Von Ryan's Leapers, a Psychophage, twenty Termagants and two Ripper Swarms.

You also get the Starter Handbook which introduces more advanced rules, reference sheets, dice, range rulers and a cardboard gaming mat. This is very much the option for those wanting to get started in the new edition whilst also owning a bunch of paints and other hobby materials. A nice set of elite and rank-and-file miniatures would work as a good entry point into playing smaller games and learning the rules.

Last but not least, you have the Ultimate Starter Set which takes things to the next level with terrain and more!

As well as what you got in the Starter Set, this comes with a Librarian in Terminator Armour as well as five Barbgaunts. This means both can be used as a Combat Patrol in your games. You also get an extra cardboard gaming board, an STC Hab Bunker and eight Stockages which means that you can play around with painting terrain as well as miniatures.

You get the Ultimate Handbook to walk you through the game plus a Core Rules Book which gives you all of the rules for playing Warhammer 40,000 right out of the box. You will also get the Combat Patrol rules and six Combat Patrol Missions from the Core Book. A great way to just start playing a fair and balanced game right out of the box.

These Starter Sets are usually very good from Games Workshop and give you a decent saving when it comes to diving into the game. Well, as long as you like Space Marines and Tyranids. With the Combat Patrol game mode also in play, you should be able to have quite a bit of fun playing Warhammer 40,000 with these.

Which of these Starter Sets will you be trying out?
