PYTHAGORAS have been working on a new board game that is going to be popping up later this year. Gods Of Rome is an area control game for two-to-four players where Rome has lost its way and the Gods require your favour.

Gods Of Rome - PYTHAGORAS

Through worker placement and card activation, you'll be fighting over different areas of the board. Your task is to choose a tribe and do great deeds with them in order to earn the favour of the various gods. Each of the gods offers up different bonuses and enhanced actions that can be used later in the game.

As well as gaining victory points from the territories you have been able to control during a given turn, there are also special objectives you're seeking to complete to gain additional bonuses. There are also checkpoints along the different favour tracks for each god and when one person hits that checkpoint, points will be scored depending on how far up the track each player has gone. As you might have guessed, the person with the highest score wins.

I really like the art design and overall look of the game. I think the idea of god-based area control also rocks but slimmed down to fit into a thirty-to-ninety-minute experience. Having different objectives to reveal each game and people fluctuating between the favour they give to different gods, this seems like it could be good fun!

Will you be keeping an eye out for Gods Of Rome?
