Aeon Trespass: Odyssey by lawnor

We lead with a little bit of a look back at some of the work that lawnor has been doing on another immense game. Aeon Trespass: Odyssey is a HUGE game that is very much in the same genre and style of game as the likes of Kingdom Death: Monster. It features epic miniatures, a boss battler system and an unfolding campaign where you explore an interesting twist on Greek Mythology.

lawnor has dived into all manner of miniatures like this in the past and so it was no real surprise that they have dove into a game and a collection like this. Much like with some of their previous projects, they have been painting up excellent miniatures using a variety of techniques which seem to make it an utter doddle. For example, you've got this immense fellow above!

You've also got miniatures like these. These are the Titans that your characters inhabit when they need to do battle with the terrible enemies they come up against. Once again, the work by lawnor makes all of these miniatures properly pop and I like the choice of colours throughout.

The painting style also works really well for those wanting to bring to life board game miniatures. You want to be able to tell what's what on the tabletop quickly and get rid of those piles of grey at the same time so lawnor's painting tips and ideas help to solve both of those problems. As you can see, the entire collection is looking amazing.

The set comes with some very weird miniatures which allowed lawnor to test themselves in a variety of ways. I also really like the way that the "terrain" elements have been painted for this range. All of that cream and sand help to make the actual miniatures pop and shows off the good work that lawnor has done. A solid collection of miniatures painted exceptionally well.

The entire project from lawnor is also packed with information on how all of this came to life and some additional information on the game itself. Aeon Trespass: Odyssey has been dividing a lot of people so it would be interesting to hear what someone who has dove deep into the game thinks.

Necromunda Terrain by sparkeswillfly

Next up, we're looking at a project from sparkeswillfly which Gerry signposted for me. In this project, they have taken some interesting kits and turned them into terrain to use on the tabletop. sparkeswillfly has done an excellent job of turning a Nerf Gun...

...and turned them into some excellent pieces for use in games of Necromunda and beyond. When you look at the Nerf Gun, it just looks like something from the grimdark future of Warhammer 40,000. Once you look past the colours and the gun components, it's a massive machine that no doubt turns people into slurry.

Here is what the same piece of terrain looks like once it has been built up and painted to match the rest of their terrain set.

An impressive-looking piece of kit and one that seems like a no-brainer. I like projects like this where you start to look at toys and other bits of kit that you might have lying around and how they could be upcycled to be used to make some impressive tabletop terrain. This piece also works really well once you see it set amongst the other pieces on the tabletop.

One of the nice things about this terrain is that it adds a lot of additional height to your gaming tables. You feel like you're walking through a terrifying Hive City which stretches up into the heavens. Smog filled heavens but heavens regardless. I think it's worth having a peek at the rest of the project above which explores how to do something like this!

Chaos Army by jesusjohn

Last but not least, we have another weird project. I am absolutely loving how so many people are going down the route of painting and modelling classic armies but in different ways. For example, jesusjohn has been working on bringing a Chaos army to life but in a really odd way.

With the venerable John Blanche leaving Games Workshop after many years of service, these miniatures look absolutely amazing. The idea is to try and match these miniatures to some artwork that jesusjohn had seen and also do something so different that no one would have anything remotely similar!

Here we can see some work on their "Helbrute" and also some "Chaos Space Marines". They are made from Delaque miniatures and a judicial application of guitar string to get those weird tendrils. The idea is that some Chaos Sorcerer has needed to summon forth some bodyguards and so has created these weird and twisted abominations. This isn't all either as jesusjohn has also talked about strange white monoliths and geometric shapes representing Daemons. I cannot wait to see this army finished.

This impressive collection has been coming together for a little while now and I like the look of what has been produced so far. It has got that proper Blanchitsu vibe to it and I think it is going to be very, very impressive when it finally gets finished. I would love to go up against something like this which seems like it has been ripped from The Warp. We need to see more people doing uncanny and almost impressionist takes on armies for the tabletop.
