Begin Warhammer Underworlds Adventures With New Starter Set

Games Workshop are having a little bit of a lean week this time around. Maybe they are as busy with UK Games Expo plans as we are? Warhammer Underworlds, their board/card/miniatures game set in the world of Warhammer Age Of Sigmar, is getting a new Starter Set coming up for pre-order.

This new Starter Set provides folks wanting to get into Warhammer Underworlds with a good jumping off point. You get the two warbands, the Farstriders and the Sepulchral Guard, alongside everything else that you need to start playing the game. That includes new Rivals Decks for both of the warbands (allowing you to get started without having go do any deck building) alongside boards, dice and tokens.

There is also a step-by-step guide for those who are new to Warhammer Underworlds meaning that those who dive into this set will slowly get introduced to new concepts and rules before being turned into veterans.

New Warband & Card Decks

As well as the new Starter Set, there is also a new warband coming up for pre-order this weekend. The Headsmen’s Curse is a new warband for Grand Alliance Death which focuses in on a magical sword, Terminus, which flows through the realms and and is always followed by these deadly Nighthaunt executioners.

The miniatures for this set look awesome and it's nice to see more stories being told with the ghostly and ghastly Nighthaunt. I really like that there is a narrative in this set with the characters reading your name of a list, setting up the block and finally getting ready to chop your head off. This then follows through into the mechanics of the warband and the way that they play which is great game design.

Last but not least, there is also a new constructed deck that you can use with your warbands.

This Rivals Deck comes with thirty-two cards which can be used with all manner of different warbands. You will be spreading the dreaded Voidcurse to your fighters which then allows them to use powerful Gambit cards. This is going to be very handy with aggressive warbands!
