New Seraphon Enact Their Great Plan In Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
May 22, 2023 by brennon
The Seraphon are getting ready to enact their grand plan in The Mortal Realms of Warhammer Age Of Sigmar. A new range of miniatures plus the new Battletome are going to be coming up for pre-order this weekend allowing you to stick it to the powers of Chaos on the tabletop soon.

The new Battletome comes with everything you need to run the Seraphon on the tabletop during your games. You get to build armies based on the Coalesced forces that have manifested in The Mortal Realms as well as the Celestial Starborne who are infused with the magic of the realms. That means fully updated rules, Warscrolls and more for using the Seraphon alongside narrative Path To Glory rules as well.
New Seraphon Characters
As well as the new book, there are also some new miniatures as mentioned above. We start with the new characters leading the way and the powerful Slann Starmaster.
Slann Starmaster // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
These ancient creatures have the power of the Old Ones running through their veins and have a great understanding of the plan that needs to be enacted. They are true masters of the arcane craft and are unparalleled in their power. You will certainly want one of these leading your larger Seraphon armies.
Smaller but still powerful in their own right, there are the Skink Starseers who make up for their diminutive appearance with powerful magical abilities of their own.
Skink Starseer // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
Devoted assistants of the Starmasters, they are able to enact their will when their masters are occupied with other affairs. They can read the heavens and predict the future, blessing your Seraphon with ways to outmatch their enemies. They also look super awesome now they've been given quite the glow-up. I wouldn't want to mess with that glowing-eyed mage!
Sometimes you need those trained in the art of war to lead the way and that's where the Saurus come in. Here we have one of the Saurus Scar-Veteran On Aggradon.
Saurus Scar-Veteran On Aggradon // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
Forgo magical aid and instead send yourself flying into the heart of combat with a Scar-Veteran. They are deadly and ferocious in their own right but their mounts are also apex predators. They are going to be just as much of a handful to deal with as the Sarus on their backs. I think the new Sarus look suitably hench and brutal which is exactly what you want from their ancient and peerless fighters from the background.
Some amongst the ranks of the Saurus are given high honours. That's where the Saurus Astrolith Bearer comes into play with their magical standard.

An impressive and complex device that can empower the other Seraphon around the bearer. I would imagine that carrying around something of that size requires some training and so you've got a particularly strapped Saurus behind it! He comes festooned with artefacts and I love the big frilled mask he's wearing on his head. He is not going to be a pushover, that's for sure.
New Seraphon Troops & Monsters
As well as the new characters, there are also some new miniatures for you to throw into the mix that make up the legions of Seraphon seeking to protect The Mortal Realms. As seen in earlier previews, we're now getting a bunch of miniatures including the Aggradon Lancers with more of those fearsome predators as steeds.

You've also got some equally fun mounted troops with the Raptadon Hunters. With a distinctly uncanny look to their faces that makes them feel a little bit alien, this set of miniatures gets across the similar qualities that the Seraphon as a whole possess.

You've also got some of my favourite miniatures from the update for the Seraphon in the new Kroxigors. You can arm them with a selection of different weapons and turn them into the rampaging Warspawn if you so desire. The miniatures, once again, have much more presence on the tabletop and look decidedly awesome. I could see these being a good central focus for your army.

Even the lowly Saurus Warriors themselves got something of an update. They are now bigger and brasher, more in line with the way they should act on the tabletop. They also look more animated which is always good, breaking away from the quite literally regimented designs of the old days.

Last but not least, we have this monstrous beast. Goaded forward by a band of Skinks, you can also call on the majesty of the Spawn Of Chotec.
Spawn Of Chotec // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar
Much like the Salamanders of old for Warhammer Fantasy Battles, these creatures are living artillery that spews burning saliva onto those that they deem a threat. Not even armour is going to save you from the burning liquid that works its way into all the cracks.
The Seraphon of Warhammer Age Of Sigmar has had a pretty darn good update with this range of new plastic miniatures. It will be good to see them getting stuck into the heart of the action and imposing their own kind of order on The Mortal Realms.
Will you be picking up some Seraphon soon?

That Slann Starmaster (or as I call him Floaty McFloatface) looks like the love child from Yoda and Jabba the Hutt’s sister.
Have fun with that image in your head! 8)
Kermit an Miss Piggy.?
I guess that works too.
Lol.
The minis and their paintjobs look superb, but the artwork of AoS generally/often just feels off… It doesn’t have the grittiness and high detail (and grimdarkness?) from the Old World artwork, I feel. (Says the complaining old man…)
I thought this when AoS first launched but I think in the midst of a lot of the Ultra High Fantasy stuff, there are some seriously grim stories to be told, especially if you go down an alternative painting route. I’ve been doing that with Stormcast and it’s made the experience all the more interesting in my opinion – definitely get that with some of the smaller game systems too like Warcry and Underworlds.
The artwork certainly isn’t a patch on the classic stuff by Adrian Smith, the Kopinski’s and the like though.
Love the Dino’s an the Dino rider’s.
And with the new battletome, GW ruined another army of mine…..
Time to retire my old Slann I think…
The Astrolith, the Raptadons and the Salamander all look cool but the others? The Kroxigors and the new saurus just seem a bit odd to me, bit fat, bit disproportioned… Sad to say I’m getting flashbacks to the release of the beastmen minotaurs
That being said, the Aggradon Lancers look good but if I was to pick them up I think I’d have to ditch my old cold ones and I’m too sentimental to do that, had some real fun with those guys over the years…
