Hi guys, I’m not sure how this got onto the top banner on my BoW page, but it’s really cool to see my work ‘up there in lights’ so to speak. He’s going onto Ebay tonight, so enjoy him while you can!
You have great photography skills. Atleast compared to myself.
I’m sorry to say it, but no. It’s not a bad picture for someone who, like most, don’t care about learning how to use a camera beyond pressing the button but the result really isn’t all that purposeful. The depth of field is just ridiculously low with half the model obscured by blur. The lighting is fair but could use some more from the front, a lot of detail is lost in the shadows. To photograph models one should really use macro and preferably a ring flash, also a tripod goes without saying. For most a ring flash isn’t feasible… Read more »
Every guide I’ve ever read says not to use the flash at all. Use the timer so that the camera is not moving when you press the button. As for getting all the lights and paper shades setup, Not everyone has space for all that. Plus having a bulb in front means I have a bulb in my face. Flash might go wrong. In fact, without proper knowledge it’s pretty much bound to, but the whole point of my post was that if people just took a few hours to learn something about cameras we would see a lot more really nice looking, and above all purposeful, pics of models out there. Not enough space? You don’t have two square feet of room at home? It’s basically all about getting the lighting right. That’s basically a 10MP camera, point blank range with a lamp held over the top of the model just out of frame.
