Get 3D Printing With Mantic Games’ New Vault Subscription
May 12, 2023 by brennon
Mantic Games have fired up their newest venture for you to sign up for and get involved with. If you're interested in 3D Printing then you might want to delve into the newly revealed Mantic Vault.
Vault // Mantic Games
The Vault is very similar to other options out there for 3D Printing fans. You can sign up and get access to a monthly bundle of miniatures that are inspired by a variety of the games that Mantic Games produce. For example, during this month you can get your hands on two different fleets for Armada plus some miniatures for Kings Of War's Halflings and Riftforged Orcs.
Vault - May 2023 // Mantic Games
The set comes with ships for the Basileans and the Orcs and you can get some terrain to throw onto your tabletops as well. There are also some bits for making Halfling Knights, Stalwarts and Poachers as well as the Aeronauts. The Riftforged Orcs get the fearsome Helstrikers and some extra weapons for your mighty warriors to bring to battle.
From what has been said online, these STL Files come unsupported (so you'll need to do that yourself) and are exceptionally detailed. A lot of folks have said that those ships for Armada could be upscaled and printed for 28mm without any loss of detail!
As well as the offerings for May, there is also a Welcome Pack that you can get your hands on when you sign up and some Free files to download and have a crack at too. This Welcome Pack is going to be expanding as new stuff is added from month to month.
Vault - Welcome Pack // Mantic Games
Mantic Games have been talking about The Vault over on YouTube if you'd like some more information and they are also signposting what's coming up in future months. So, when you get signed up, you should be able to keep an eye on what's approaching.
Mantic Vault Event
It should be noted that whilst Mantic might be taking a lot of their resin kits and turning them into STL Files, the actual physical miniatures won't be going anywhere. You will still be able to buy all of these bits, monsters, ships and more from the Mantic webstore.
Could you be tempted to sign up for the new Vault and get your 3D Printers fired up?

I recall Ronnie being casually dismissive of 3D printing in general as recently as the runup to the Dungeon Saga KS.
like me he still is, but he’s also a business man who understands that children like new things
And maybe the future is STL’s and this is Mantic attempting to get ahead of the curve. It seems like it is being done somewhat begrudgingly in this case.
Not including a pre-supported option will be offputting for a lot of the 3D printing hobbyists. So Mantic is excluding a potential big segment of interested players into their universes. If they’re designing minis in 3D as part of their current or close future pipeline, converting them to printable STL’s is a relatively small investment. Adding pre-supported files requires specialized skills and testing, adding complexity and cost to the production pipeline. An investment they’re perhaps not willing to make. Time will tell, if it’s the right move. Although most slicer programs do a half decent job adding auto-supports, they’re not… Read more »
At the moment it seems that this *might* be something to do with the resin casting process. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the video spent time showing us around the resin development and casting rooms before then telling us how complicated it is in the same video that an STL subscription service is on the way. And all of the things on offer are resin models and/or upgrade sets
I as a Gamer have turned almost completely to 3d printing. I have 4 printers and it’s a hobby on itself. I have several Mantic games before I became a 3D convert and have danced around armada for awhile now but this will get me into it. To each their own.
Ooh that’s a very tempting offer for gamers.
I’m really interested to see if this works. They will be the first company I am aware of that is moving from selling physical products to offering 3d files. Most other companies that offer STL files start as digital only from the start. I don’t see Mantic losing customers, as their existing fanbase are buying their physical products. This can hopefully bring in new customers. They have some great games and interesting IP on offer and it will be interesting to see if that is enough to sustain a company once their files are out in the wild for all… Read more »
