Set Sail With Never Mind The Boathooks By Andy Callan
May 11, 2023 by brennon
Andy Callan might have only just released Never Mind The Billhooks, his wargaming rules for playing out small battles during the Late Medieval period, but that hasn't stopped him from coming up with some more rules for the period! With Never Mind The Boathooks, you can dive into some Medieval naval warfare!

This set of rules are based on Never Mind The Billhooks but doesn't require them in order for you to play. You can, if you like, just get your hands on this and have some nautical fun. Much like with Billhooks, the rules are fun and easy to learn and should get you playing games during that Late Medieval period on the high seas, in rivers and more.

Boathooks is going to be available alongside the June issue of Wargames Illustrated so if you're subscribed then you'll get this coming your way very soon"Small battles with big ships" sounds pretty awesome and with those new boats from Sarissa Precision out there in the world, it seems like as good a time as any to dive in and give these rules a go.

I like the look of the game from these initial preview pages as well. I like the idea of using the card deck which should help to add some interesting moments into the game and change things up from battle to battle. Also, I totally understand why people would want to play naval games after seeing that ship packed with troops (above)!
Will you be picking up Never Mind The Boathooks for a bit of nautical fun?

I love those ship models. They really remind me of a “make your Warhammer scale ships possibly from shoe boxes” article from a white dwarf a lifetime ago.
I’d love to give that a crack
Nice an ship’s that can be used for this article was published on the site last week.
