May 8, 2023 by brennon
Games Workshop are going to be bringing one of their reveals from Warhammer Fest 2023 to the tabletop sooner rather than later. Warhammer Age Of Sigmar: Warcry - Nightmare Quest is going to be coming up for pre-order this weekend, allowing you to dive into some 28mm Fantasy skirmishes in The Mortal Realms.

The Royal Beastflayers are a heroic band of huntsmen who have been sent into the heart of the Gnarlwood in order to save The Mortal Realms. Well, that's what they think anyway. The unfortunate truth is that they are instead a band of Ghouls from the Flesh-eater Courts who are going to threaten the stability of The Mortal Realms with their strange antics!
Royal Beastflayers // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar: Warcry
Led by a Strigoi-esque Ghoul who has been gifted the crimson kiss by a vampire, this warband is harking back to the classic depiction of the Ghouls from Warhammer Fantasy Battles. You've got a true band of "nobles" here alongside some revolting peasants and hangers-on who follow in their wake and watch over their masters. There are also the strange "hounds" that have become more bestial and now believe them to be the hunting creatures of their lords.
Looking to stop this band of Ghouls, Sigmar has deemed it necessary to send his Questor Soulsworn who have been tasked with not only driving out the blight of the Flesh-eater Courts but also making sure that the Realmshaper Engine deep within the Gnarlwood is either protected or destroyed.
Questor Soulsworn // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar: Warcry
Each of these Soulsworn are heroes in their own right and carry their favoured weapons into battle. They are also led by a grim member of their order who ensures that their souls are able to return back to Azyr for reforging in the celestial realm. Clad in their Thunderstrike armour, they should be able to delve into all but the darkest corners of The Mortal Realms in the name of the God-King.
You'll also note that the set for Nightmare Quest also comes with all of the books, accessories, terrain and such that you need to play games with these warbands. The Warband Tome can be used alongside the Core Rules for Warcry (available free online) and the various decks of cards are there to generate your different quests using the terrain layout provided within the box.
Returning Warbands
Warbands from the previous Warcry set are also going to be available for you to pre-order this weekend. That means you can pick up the Askurgan Trueblades, an order of vampire monks who use their willpower to try and stave off the bloodlust. Some have been more successful in that than others as you can see below!

They can then be pitted against the Claws Of Karanak who have no qualms about spraying blood absolutely everywhere. They are great lovers of the slavering blood beasts of Khorne and show that in their animalistic nature, attire and style of warfare. Another fun set for those that want to show their allegiance to a particular Chaos God.

With these sets now available separately, you can pick them up for inclusion in a larger Warhammer Age Of Sigmar army or pit them against different warbands in Warcry. So, if you were interested in picking up these but didn't want to buy the larger boxed set, you can now snap them up minus the terrain and the rest of the gubbins.
Could you be tempted to dive into some Warcry with these warbands or that new set?
