Soda Pop Shows off January Releases for Relic Knights

Soda Pop Miniatures gives us a look at their January releases for the game Relic Knights. This month we see Swordsworn for the Order of the Shattered Sword, Diamond Corps for the Black Diamond Minions, Kyojin Berserkers for ther Noh Empire Minions and lastly the Novitiates of the Doctrine Academies.
All of the miniatures look really nice and definitely have a Japanese Manga look about them and I know this game is very popular with several Beasts of War members. My only question is how do the Novitiates figure into combat with armoured machines?
Which of these appeals to you the most and what faction do you fight for?
Will you be getting your fight on?

Those are great.
The Noviatiates would get squashed by a strong breeze. Their main use is to hide the and have them generate esper for your other units to use to activate their abilities.
As for which faction? All of them!
Novitiates, providing you have the awareness to keep them mobile and sneaky you can assassinate pretty much anything except a RK easily.
The only unit from these release i don’t like and find not very useful are the berzerkers, far to easy to nullify.
They can put out a high damage psychic attack easily, though it’s a leap from there to say they can assassinate pretty much anything except a RK easily.
The Berzerkers are undoubtedly the worst of the four, possibly the worst unit in the game. The Swordsworn are probably the best of the other three and the only one of them I would consider running.
Diamond Corp are good too. They’re not quite sword sworn durable, but they are super cheap, and can throw down a lot of damage considering their point cost.
As for the berzerkers, didn’t they change it so that they gain health every time they make an attack (as well as when they’re hit)? I haven’t played with them after that errata, but I suspect it would help them out at least some.
They did alter Recover to do that and then pretty much immediately changed it back. No idea why. They now just get it after taking damage.
The DC are fine in and of themselves, they’re just not worth a place in the activation queue. It makes them a walking VP if your opponent needs one. Much better off spending those points hiding Suspect 7 in a Darkfield.
I’m sorry, I must be spoiled after the gorgeous stuff we’ve had from Corvus Belli, and many small companies, and what Soda Pop themselves had done way back when for Relic Knights… but I don’t find these very good at all !
Apology accepted lol. I find that the minis evoke the setting. They look like the artwork. None of these are as good as the likes of Sebastian Cross or Kisa, but nor do they need to be.
True enough, I guess… Being a painter, I think every miniature needs to be as good as the best ones on the market, but that may be just me… 😉
TBH I’m kind of disappointed too by the quality of the miniature but its mainly due to the material they went with, a lot of details is lost even on the bigger miniatures it is the same, but the same is good.
Being a gamer with a budget, I’m glad I didn’t have to sell my house to get as many RK minis as I have. Being a mediocre modeller, I’m glad I don’t have to assemble metal versions of the Relic Knights, or glue tiny metal joints together and watch limbs keep falling off. And I really like the minis on top of all that.
Really like the look of these Knights but are already painting on several miniature front’s, its one to keep in mind though as I compleat a project or two 🙂
like them or leave them, I am just happy RK is getting attention. It is a hidden gem of a game that needs more coverage.
Im just glad they finally released the game as it seemed like ages that we get word that a game was coming but nothing happened.
