In this painting tutorial, John shows you how to paint Sd.Kfz. 222 Leichter Panzerspähwagen from Warlord Games for use in World War II wargames like Bolt Action.
The 222 variant was produced between 1937 and 1943 and fought in all of the theatres that the German army was involved in. In this painting tutorial, John paints an early war version that would work as well for patrolling Paris as it does for launching a blitzkrieg at Pskov.

Really useful, thank you John. One quick question, I saw that you decided against picking out the wire mesh over the turret. If you had decided to do that, how would you have done it?
I think the wire mesh either looks fine or rubbish, depending on what you do with it. It would have been painted in the same german grey, so beyond chipping it, I didn’t see much need in doing anything else to it. I didn’t want the dust effect to gather in it, so felt it better to avoid that 🙂 Maybe a black wash would pick it out better.
