Unboxing and Building
After seeing Gerry unbox the Reptilian Overlords, I had to pull mine off the shelf.
All the sprues are the same. They are plenty options in heads, arms and weapons but only four different sets of legs. 
With plastic glue splashing around, I decided to throw on some cork to alter the stance on some of the boys to try and hide the repetitive legs. I left the arms off to paint separate to hopefully speed up the process. I'm guessing that those big biceps will get in the way of my brush..Watch My Six & Get Some Color On
Primer down white over grey. Ready for Speedpaint.
Three colors up. Really digging the grey & black. The green however, yuck. I'm glad these are toward sci-fi or I'd be cleaning these off.
Closer look here, used two coats of green. Yeah that reactivation thing these paints are known to do, it's a thing. To stay on schedule I'm gonna keep going hoping I can do something to clean this up.
Thinned the second coat of green and they were more "ok"? I think. Maybe good enough for the table but would like to highlight if I have time. But..."I ain't got time to bleed".If It Bleeds, We Can Kill It
I set out a few colors that could pass as skin tones, giving me some more variety within the squad. I could not live with the green, so I highlighted the speedpaint with a lighter shade of straight acrylic. I felt much better about it.
The heads and arms were painted on the sprue. The heads worked out great, as the connection point was at the neck, so it was hid and nothing to touch up. Also, the heads lack eyeballs, so after trying to paint a few eyes, I mailed that in. The arms were another story. I don't think I gained anything by painting them before assembly. The touch up needed after they were glued on was just another step. The skin was washed and then highlighted by adding ivory to the base color. One word of caution, watch were you put the pouches on these guys, they get in the way of the arms easily. I found myself test fitting everything before I could put them together. Painted weapon stocks a green-grey to look composite and burnished some barrels, scopes and mags with a dull silver and black wash. 
What are buff soldiers w/o some tattoos? Some are done with paint, and the all-black are done with black pencils with dull-coat over the top. If you notice the flag and shamrock on the head, a little wave to my foreign brothers. Time was short tonight so I had to move it along. I hope to finish the bases tomorrow.
Jungle Bases
Using Vallejo ground texture rough pumice, I put down a base. Then painted them a dark umber. Followed by a sloppy dry brush of a mossy green.
I got a bag of green plastic plants from Amazon for a few bucks and found a moss mat at a local craft store. 
I pulled apart the moss mat and glued the pieces down for ground cover. I took the hobby knife to plastic plants and cut off the leaves to a workable length. They had to be quick set with super glue to keep them in place. I found some left over GW plants that I painted brown and dry-brushed green. I just got in there and mixed it up.
And we finished. Pretty easy stuff to work with these guys. You will just have to put in some effort to make them different. I would like to see more leg sets, some different hats, and where the hell is my chain gun? "This stuff will make you a God damned sexual Tyrannosaurus, just like me!"
