Setting up my Space Station Zero Runthrough
Challenge 1:Docking Bay Access Port
So, first I rolled for random terrain and set up the Mission Terrain as per the map in the book.
Next I rolled for Objectives and Enemies I got
Poison Gas Leak- There is some old and damaged broken down pipes that are now emitting poison gas into the room. These are a 3 seperate locations and can be shut down if I can get one of my crew over to them and make a Reaction Challenge test 3 which means I roll my Reaction stat (in most cases of the crew this is 4) on D12s and I need 3 successes (evens) to shut it down. The downside is every time I activate one of my crew they have to take a life check and pass however many poison gas leaks are still active or take the difference in Dmg. This is a problems since almost all of my crew are on 4 life.
Ancient Sentries- If the gas wasn’t enough there are 6 barely function robots in the bay that are coming for my crew due to some automated protocol. The good news in they don’t have any ranged weapons, but they will keep coming unless I take them all out.
To Win this challenge- I have to shut down all the gas leaks and take out the sentries and hope my crew survives.
Rogues Gallery- These are the robots that I’ll be hoping to cut down in the challenge.
Here are a couple shots from each side of the board after deployment.
Turn 1- The crew has the first activation. Regadin is my first choice to activate, after taking the Poison check he loses 1 health point and using Thergrum’s Logistic Expert ability since he was within 3 inches is moved 8 inches and gets close enough to engage one of the Ancient Robots in Melee. 12 wounds (Crit ATTACK) are rolled and the Robot fails to save 8 of them and is killed. The crew then fails to retain initiative.
One of the ancient robots heads towards Regadin and engages him in combat causing no damage since Regadin is wearing an armored jacket got a little lucky here. In melee fighting both sides get to roll and he attacks back causing 3 dmg and killing yet another robot. Robots then fail to retain initiative
Rangrim the brother of Regadin is the next one to be activated he passes his Life Challenge so he takes no damage. Eying up one of the robots from the other side he moves up the table a takes a shot with his Energy missile Weapon and kills it. Again The crew fails to retain initiative.
The final robot on the other side of the table moves up and engages Rangrim and attempts to lay him low with some melee action. Robot gets 2 successes and then Rangrim gets 5 successes on the defense roll and kills the 3rd robot.
Bad guys retain activation
There are two robots left on the table, but that gas is still leaking in the air although the robots don’t care. Since they are both out of melee range one of them activates and double moves towards the crew.
Bad guys fail to retain.
Next I opted to activate Doldain one of the crew’s pilots. He fails his life save and takes 2 dmg, that’s half his health but he soldiers on. He moves a little forward and takes a shot with his sidearm and manages to take another robot out. One bad guy left. Crew AGAIN fails to retain.
the last robot is out of range so he double moves towards Doldain. Since that is all of the bad guys it goes back to the crew.
Karthan the engineer of this crew is then elected to go next and he fails his life save and takes 1 wound. He elects to double move toward the middle gas leak hopefully he can shut it down next turn.
The main pilot, Bhardrum who has an energy weapon is next and he fails his life check and takes 2 damage. He moves forward and takes a shot at the final robot causing to damage, but the Robot saves and is fine.
The medical officer Gernam is next. After passing his life check he moves 4 and attempts to heal Bhardrum and succeeds! Bhardrum is back a full health.
Thergrum the commander of this crew is the only one left so he goes next. He passes his life check and moves up and takes a shot with his Energy weapon at the final robot and kills it!
There are no robots left, but the air is still full of poison..
Turn 2- Regadin , the hero so far who has managed to take out 3 robots is my first selection. He fails his life check and takes 1 wound, after that he moves over to the right most leak and attempts to shut it down and does! 2 to go.
Since there are no bad guys left it’s just crew and a bunch of poison in the air so no retention is necessary.
Next is Karthan the engineer. After taking his life check (it’s 2 now instead of 3) He is close enough to Thergrum to use his Logistics Expert ability and moves to the second vent and attempts to shut it down and succeeds! 1 to go
The medic Gernam is next to activate. After passing his life check (1 now) he attempts to heal Doldain and succeeds, he is now at full health.
Doldain now is elected to start and passes his life check and moves to the final vent. He succeeds only once so 2 to go.
Bhardrom passes his life check and is next and manages to get near the final vent but fails to get any successes.
Thergrum passes his check but can only move closer to the final vent.
Turn 3- Rangrim is first to be activated and fails his life Check and take 2 wounds and then fails to shut down the leak.
Doldain passes his life check and then shuts down the vent!
Victory for the crew…everyone is up a little short of breath but alive.
