Atomic Mass Games are now taking pre-orders for their upcoming Sci-Fi skirmish wargame set in the Star Wars universe. Star Wars: Shatterpoint is landing later this year and has been designed to focus on the dynamic duels between heroic and villainous characters in a Saturday morning cartoon style.

A wise protector and her apprentice step forward! Known for her great patience, Jedi Master Luminara Unduli’s discipline and ability to stay calm under pressure make her a formidable duelist with a lightsaber. A master of the Soresu form of combat, she has passed her skills on to her padawan Barriss Offee.

I remember seeing Luminara and Barriss for the first time in a Jedi temple on Illum in the superior Clone Wars show by Genndy Tartakovsky. I loved seeing them moving and fighting together almost like a four-armed Jedi perfectly in sync with each other. It will be interesting to see if that carries over into their style of gameplay in Shatterpoint. I want Barriss to be an aspiring Jedi and not just a pale shadow of her master.

Clone Commandos // Shatterpoint

The Jedi are accompanied by a pair of Commandos, someone to do the heavy lifting and pull the Jedi out of situations they have gotten themselves into, and ultimately to give their lives so the Jedi can live. The Republic Commandos as small squads of elite clone troopers leads me to believe that they will pack a significant punch above their regular brothers. The models do give a great look of impact shock troops fire and manoeuvring their way across the tabletop to secure an objective.

The pack is available to pre-order now with a July release date slated, hopefully, some more gameplay will be forthcoming before then beyond the stuff from adepticon video to showcase the game and the rules in more detail.
