Does Dark Age Trailer Tempt You to Play Something Dangerous?
January 25, 2015 by dracs
Cool Mini or Not have come out with a hard rocking trailer on their YouTube channel for the apocalyptic game of Dark Age daring you to play something dangerous!
The trailer features flashes of the game's art and miniatures, set to a heavy metal backing track. Throughout it, we are introduced to each of the different factions, giving new players an idea of the miniatures that are available in Dark Age.
While the trailer does give a good idea of the frantic style of Dark Age, I have to admit that this trailer just doesn't do it for me. The editing is so fast paced that you rarely get time to get a good look at anything we're being shown, and there is no real information provided about the background or gameplay other than the names of the different factions.
Still, it could work to attract people's attention and make them interested in looking up more information on the Dark Age game.

I must admit that Dark Age does interest me with it’s great looking sculpts.
The dark age stuff looks great, I can really appreciate the gritty style. And yet there is something that I miss to push me over the edge.
I can’t say the video does much to get me interested, though the game itself is interesting. The quality of the minis has shot up in the last year or so.
Video is pretty cool but if I wasn’t already familiar with the game I’d almost mistake it for a new range of action figures.
I was already slightly interested in Dark Age’s minis. That video did nothing to increase my interest. The shots of the minis were to fast and badly lit, the music was awful too. I did start to enjoy the video more after I muted the sound 😉
There are currently far too many games out there and i guess for many of us it is very hard to focus on one or two of them. Also most of them are not distinctive enough and for me this is the case of dark ages. All right i love the naked sm ladies fighting half naked but really… how many other gothic fantasy games are out there? Mierce minis just to say one? And I agree the trailer does not tell u or show u anything. The have to sell the minis, not an action movie, so in my… Read more »
Let me also say that dark age minis look great. But if i look back to kickstarter in 2014 the competition of original and distinctive games was overwhelming… dust? carnevale? rum and bones? just to name a few i pledged for… such a busy market in my opinion asks for groundbreaking ideas and new settings
I can’t speak for the actual Dark Age rules here but I have been using a selection of the Dark Age line for Necromunda and Dark Heresy/Inquisitor games in the 40K universe. They make great hive gangers and mutant underclasses. Some even make decent Inquisitor retinue characters.
Yeah, trailer was only ok. Which is a shame because I have been very, very impressed with the Dark Age rules. The game plays silky smooth, with very simple rules that still provide an incredible amount of depth. You will understand about 90% of the rules by the end of your first game. By the end of the second game you will very rarely have to reference the book again. What they really need to do IMHO is go back and resculpt their older releases to bring them up to the quality of their most recent minis. There is such… Read more »
Love the look of these minis- Dark Age have really been improving their sculpts lately- but what I really like is that the models seem to have a grittier and more muted colour palette (not sure if they’re new paint jobs or just a filter on the images but they certainly look different to me) which I personally much prefer. 🙂
