Forge World’s Deredeo Dreadnought – When One Gun Isn’t Enough!
January 23, 2015 by brennon
It's time to bring all the guns to bear as Forge World release the Deredeo Pattern Dreadnought onto their webstores. Not sure one gun is enough? Well, thankfully this one has six!
More on this walking gun platform...
"The Deredeo pattern Dreadnought is a dedicated heavy support frame, though it shares many core components and systems with the more general assault-based Contemptor class. Initially deployed in limited numbers to each of the Legions due to difficulties in its manufacture, its durability and firepower saw demand for the Deredeo pattern dramatically increase after the outbreak of the Horus Heresy."
You have to buy the core of this Dreadnought separately with the Anvilus Autocannon Battery and Aiolos Missile Launcher for sale elsewhere on the store. This is pretty common practice for Forge World Dreadnoughts.
It's not a bad looking Dreadnought but I don't really like the boat-like armour to it's front although I can see why it has it for the attached weapons underneath.
Will you be getting one?

At least it looks like it can walk opposed to the 40k dread.
Not a fan myself
Been discussing with some friends and we came to the conclusion it’s the armoured boob-job that puts us off. It has Austin Powers style machine gun jubblies! 🙂
It kinda reminds me about Timber Wolf from Battletech.
it’s an xv88 for space marines. I’ll stick to my twin autocannon standard dreadnought thanks.
I would say they peaked at the contemptor – this just looks a bit like a compensation product.
Wasn’t so sure when I first saw this in the altogether but now it’s painted up I quite like it.
Not sure if it has moobs, or a boat for a chest. Definitely makes the model look silly though.
A rather inappropriate flamer position to say the least. What next……a lazcanon cod piece. I am a forgeworld space marine fanatic but putting this next to one of my contemptors is a bit like saying “and here’s my ugly best friend, not much to look at but she’s got a hell of a top rack” not for me thanks!
Hey don’t knock groin guns :p https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jts0xxg7P8I
Now that’s impressive!! Weird but impressive none the less.
Also, I bet when the blood angels version comes out it’ll have those weird embossed nipples…..?????
Wonder when the Furibundus class drednaught comes out then as their was always 3 classes
Contemptor – Mix of range and close
deredeo – Long range rifle dredd
Furibundus- CC powerhouse dredd
I like everything barring the Flamers. just that little too much to make the model ‘crowded’ and unbalanced.
so is the wounded marine just a head for this type of dreadnought looks like that’s all that will fit in the space for him?
I like it a bit more painted but still on the fence… not sure it will make it in to any of my armies even though rules wise it looks pretty solid.
Experimental rules:

for those that hadn’t seen them.
I really like it, the indirect and skyfire rules will make this a strong rear deployment piece.
For me its the fact it uses a heavy slot, with my RoW I only get 2 slots anyway (having to use my Spartan for a different unit to make that a dedicated transport. So it’d mean dropping a Fire Raptor or Sicaran so can’t justify it.
I am in the planning stages of an Imperial Fists and this could make a nice gun sentry if I go the fortification route with them.
Hmm… I like it a lot more than I was expecting from the teaser picks we saw a little while ago… But I still don’t love it. (Unlike the Contemptor which even several years on is still stunning.) I like the weapons, but their positioning looks awkward and unbalancing. The rocket launcher should be further forward, of the hull should extend further back. Same with the autocannons. And I still don’t much like the ‘boat’ shape which makes it difficult for the pilot to see anything below the line of the horizon. I’d say I feel pretty neutral about this,… Read more »
