This is an absolutely mammoth box and one of the biggest games we've ever had under camera. You and your friends are in for an awesome experience where the core mechanics of Gloomhaven have been taken and updated with new ideas like building your settlement, crafting and a new flow to how quests are played out.
Are you going to be getting stuck into Frosthaven soon or waiting for the full retail release later down the line?

Nah, I’m good… way to massive for my taste
Having played through Gloomhaven and Jaws Of The Lion I feel like it’s my duty to eventually play this haha
practically compulsory many would say
A big box of goodness but as we play so many different games we simply wouldn’t have the time to devote to this game.
200 notes though, makes my eyes water. I know most GW armies are more than this, but at least you buy them a bit at a time.
This unboxing was on youtube last night… then disappeared…
And I get a headache just thinking about running the game. I know it’s coop, but I always end up being the rules guy.
I got gloomhaven from BGG. Seemed to be perfect for me and I was already planning on getting on the frosthaven kickstarter….
The game was a huge dissappointment for me. I thought it was bloated, boring and I completely lost track of whatever story and sidestory was supposed to be gning on.
Sold it after about 15 games.
There’s a lot there. Lot of complexity, too. But nothing that ended up interesting me. Fair game to everyone that enjoys it, but be advised it’s not the holy grail for everyone. For a hefty pricetag
It’s certainly not for everyone. I too completely forgot what the story was and it’s definitely not your classic dungeon-delving adventure game.
The thing that sold it for me was the mechanics. I like Euro board game mechanics and Gloomhaven did that really well (for me). That’s what kept me going through it from the start through to JotL.
I must say I actually MUCH prefer Journeys In Middle-earth from Fantasy Flight Games because that offers up the classic adventure board game feel.
