Reiner Knizia's Yellow & Yangtze has been reinvented and is being returned to the tabletop as Huang thanks to the folks at PHALANX! The project to bring Huang to life is now available to back over on Gamefound and it's going great guns so far.

Huang Overview - PHALANX Games

Huang Gamefound Campaign // PHALANX Games

Huang is set during the period of the Warring States (475-221 BCE) and sees you looking to raise your dynasty up and lead it to victory. The core of the game is tile placement and the use of the five different leaders (Governor, Soldier, Farmer, Trader, Artisan) that you have under your control. Each leader collects victory points across a series of different categories but your score at the end of the game is based on your weakest category! So, you'll need to be balanced if you want to come out on top!

The rules for Huang are available for you to check out HERE and only cross about seven pages so it shouldn't be hard to get your head around. Additionally, we've also got a Let's Play video for Huang which you can watch below where we dive into how it all works.

It's nice to see that the game is getting a new outing and it's a classic for a reason!

Huang Pledge Options

Pledges for Huang are spread over both a Deluxe and a Standard Pledge.

Deluxe & Standard Pledge Options // Huang

The Deluxe pledge option comes with the base game for Huang plus the Dragon set which includes a fifth payer expansion. You also get all of the additional modules that have been unlocked during the course of the Gamefound campaign.

As noted above, the Standard Pledge comes with cardboard elements rather than plastic miniatures (I think I prefer the cardboard pieces anyway!) for pagodas, leaders and unification markers. The campaign is nice and simple and offers up a good choice between pledges depending on how plush you want your copy of Huang to be.

You can also get your hands on a few Add-On options including a playmat to replace the board and a set of Wooden Leaders tokens which crank that "plush" level up.

Could you be tempted to dive in and pick up Huang from the folks at PHALANX?
