Set Up A 2mm Roman Marching Camp With LaserCast’s Terrain!
February 13, 2023 by brennon
Australia's LaserCast has recently added a new set of terrain to their webstore. If you're eager to dive into a bunch of 2mm wargaming then you might be tempted by their Roman Marching Camp which would be perfect for a bit of Ancient warfare.
2mm Scale Roman Marching Camp // LaserCast
This set has been designed to be quite modular and could represent either a half or full-size camp. In terms of dimensions, half of the camp measures around 150 x 75mm and the total size comes in at 150 x 150mm. It also features a ditch outside the palisade walls which has been engraved into the base so that it gives you a sense of depth.

As you'll have noted, the Marching Camp comes with a pretty insane amount of detail worked into the kit. You've got a whole host of tents for your infantry to sleep in plus details like scorpion teams, cohorts, camp guards and wagons which give your camp some life.

Material-wise, the Marching Camp has been laser cut from paper, card and formaldehyde-free plywood. I really like that they've managed to get so much detail out of the kit and in this scale, it shouldn't be that hard to paint up and get ready for the tabletop.
When it comes to games, Strength & Honour from Too Fat Lardies is a great set of rules for playing in 2mm and so this Marching Camp might end up being a solid piece of terrain to add to the collection. There are, of course, plenty of other games out there so if you have some ideas, drop them below.
Ancient Naval Wargaming
If you like the idea of wargaming in 2mm and want to hit the high seas, watch out for the Pentekonters which are also going to be joining their range soon.

A selection of other Ancient Greek naval kits are already available including Quinqueremes, Polyremes and Triremes so make sure to dive in and take a look at what they have to offer!
Could you be tempted by a bit of 2mm wargaming using some of the kits from LaserCast?

flocking hell those are very, very, VERY…… far way!
Ooh mini mini’s.
How do you even paint it at that scale? I feel like it would shred just by passing a brush over it.
You can check out my project where I show how easy 2mm are to paint here: https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1748762/
Wow. Just wow. Also, the entire army might just fit into a cigar box.
2mm is the scale used by the Strength and Honour rules (also available from Too Fat Lardies) so I would imagine most of us into the tiny ancients will be using those. This is a big improvement on the existing ones on the market so were I living in the right part of the planet I might have considered getting one. LaserCast are in australia and only ship to Aus, Asia, Oceania and North America. Pity, maybe they will pick up a UK or European agent.
Really nice work. One day I’ll get round to mind. Are you in Australia..If not how did you find the postage costs?
Details of LaserCast shipping costs and restrictions are here: https://lasercast.bigcartel.com/shipping No UK or EU distributor by the look of things so I think we are out of luck there @torros
They don’t even mention UK/Europe so maybe its free
2mm? Jeez, I’m struggling with painting 28mm.
