Battle in the Horus Heresy with New Mobile Game Drop Assault!
January 21, 2015 by dracs
The Horus Heresy is, without a doubt, the defining moment of the Warhammer 40,000 mythos. Now this iconic time in 40k history has come to our mobiles with the launch of the mobile app game The Horus Heresy: Drop Assault!
Developed by Complex Games, Horus Heresy: Drop Assault is the first video game set in this period of time. Players become Captains of their own legion of Space Marines, choosing whether to side with Horus' traitor legions or the Emperor's loyal followers.
Players will have the choice between established Space Marine chapters, such as the Death Guard or Sons of Horus, each with their own unique bonus, or they will be able to create their own chapter and challenge other 40k fans all over the world to a Live Skirmish, engaging in a grid based tactical combat system.
To my eye it seems that Complex Games have done a good job in capturing the look and feel of The Horus Heresy. A lot of Forge World's Horus Heresy era creations can be seen in this game, from jet bikes to contemptor pattern dreadnoughts.
There is even the prospect of having Titans appear, not something I would have expected to see.
From what I have seen, I think that this game promises to bring the scope and scale of The Horus Heresy to mobile gaming. The visuals are nice, while the gameplay should allow for some simple, tactical gaming. Hopefully we will hear more as people start to give it a go.
Have you downloaded The Horus Heresy: Drop Assault? What do you think of this latest Warhammer 40,000 video game?

LUPERCAL!
that is all 🙂
Nice. 🙂
this is interesting I’ll keep a eye on this to so how it plays
Apple only? Thats no money from this one
Ditto.
After looking at gameplay i can safely say, apple you can have it for yourself :p
Am I the only one that finds it interesting that it doesn’t have Warhammer in the title. I know its not 40k obviously but interesting there is no mention of Warhammer
The graphics seem to come from days of yore judging from the screen shots so I hope the game play is good, but if its only apple I’ll not be buying.
I’ll dig out my commodore 64 just in case;)
Game play is bad, think boom beach or another pay to win game. The skirmish is a joke with it being mostly about who can reach the objective first and get the points the quickest. I feel this was a terrible first use of the IP.
its not bad as a free mobile app, but its not the next blockbuster game of the next gen era.
