Games Workshop has been previewing the new releases coming to the Mortal Realms and Warhammer Age Of Sigmar! The Slaves To Darkness will be getting their BIG set of pre-orders this weekend, allowing you to start up an army following either Archaon or Be'lakor.

Leading the way is the new Vanguard set which has been designed as a good entry point into Warhammer Age Of Sigmar and playing as the forces of Chaos. It comes with a Chaos Lord, ten Chaos Warriors, five Chaos Knights (with their new upgrade sprue) plus a Chariot that can barrel into the heart of the action. It's quite the solid, basic setup for a Chaos army.

If you want to get started with the Slaves To Darkness, you'll also need to get your hands on the new Battletome which is also up for pre-order this weekend.

You can get this in either its regular version or go down the route of picking up the fancy full-art version (shown above on the left). Inside, you'll find all of the rules you need for playing as your new Slaves To Darkness army on the tabletop.

Keeping with the theme of getting stuck in, there is also a new set of Dice for you to snap up. Use these to properly pledge your allegiance to the Dark Gods.

Classic black and white works very nicely and I like that it's actually quite a simple set. They could have gone in a lot of weird directions with the design of these dice but I think going simple worked well.

Slaves To Darkness Characters

As well as those core elements for getting you going, there are also going to be a bunch of separate releases that are coming up. Leading the way are a bunch of new characters that we have seen previewed before but are now going to be available on their own, away from the "Launch Set" we saw last year.

This collection of characters gives you your brand new Daemon Prince who can be assembled in a variety of different ways and Eternus who is a Chaos Champion who serves Be'lakor rather than Archaon. You've also got the Exalted Hero Of Chaos who comes on foot and is probably looking to make a name for himself amongst the rank and file of your army. He also comes with a few different options.

Slaves To Darkness Warriors & Monsters!

As well as the new characters, there are also a bunch of releases for the core troops, elites and monsters that you can use to bulk up your force. So, you are going to be able to pick from the...

All of these are either tweaked kits or new kits that have been introduced to the Slaves To Darkness collection and Chaos armies in general. One of my favourite sets is for the Ogroid Theridons. It was neat to see the Ogroids appear in Silver Tower and Warcry and I think it's great to now see them on the tabletop for Chaos forces in Age Of Sigmar proper.

This now gives you a great way to start a new Slaves To Darkness army on the tabletop. You've got the new Vanguard set as an entry point alongside the Battletome plus ways to expand beyond that thanks to those separate plastic set releases.

Could you be tempted by the Dark Gods of the Mortal Realms in 2023?
