Bronze Age Miniatures Preview Their Sci-Fi Alien Mantoids
January 6, 2023 by brennon
Bronze Age Miniatures has been showing off more of their upcoming Pulpy Sci-Fi releases with a look at the metal Mantoids/Vrusks! These build on the Alien Worms that we saw last year for use in your Sci-Fi wargames.

These miniatures are available for you to scoop up from Bronze Age Miniatures by contacting them over on their Facebook Page for now. They come as a set of four pewter miniatures and would be great for games like Xenos Rampant, Stargrave and pretty much any Pulpy Sci-Fi adventure you'd care to play out on the tabletop.

We clearly need to see some pith helmet-wearing soldiers heading off to distant Mars so they can face off against these aliens. The set comes with a couple of different weapon options for the Mantoids including larger blasters as well as a pistol for one of them as well as what looks like a data pad for another.

I don't know why these miniatures have particularly tickled my fancy but they just look awesome. I think they'd be great painted up in an almost ant-like orange/brown but they would also be brilliant in a bright green or blue I reckon. They also seem like they would come to life very well with a liberal application of Contrast or Speed Paint!
What do you make of these new Mantoids from Bronze Age Miniatures?

Those are really nice.
Oh wow, good to see Vrusks in miniature! These were one of there main 4 character races from TSR’s Star Frontiers role playing game of the mid 1980’s. Humans, Vrusks (insects), Dralasites (walking amoeba blobs), and Yazarians (flying monkeys with mirror shades) would go on missions to explore new planets and fight against the evil Sathar (worms with arms). Very pulpy, but a lot of fun.
I did play that in the 80`s I was a Vrusk called “Daddy Long”…! the good old days 🙂
