Yeah, that’s what they shout from their website. I have to admit I like the design of the lamp and the promotional video does look like the engineering is good. Here are the specs from their website:

So I might be wrong on that but

White-daylight 5000K

seems a bit low. Wasn’t 6500k more the recommended colour temperature for painters and all? I do admit I’m totally out of my wheelhouse here so if someone with proper photography knowledge could chime in?

As seems to be tradition with Kickstarter announcements: no words on pricing. Judging by the look of it I say it will be north of 150 Euro. Possibly more like 200 – 300 Euro. And I base that assumption on the fact that Redgrass does take a premium price. (Example: their small wet pallet is $44.99, the Army Painter one 22,50 Euro)

Still I like the mechanic design and the way you can twist both LED arms individually.

What are your thoughts?

Hmmmmm, I could be interested as I’ve been pondering buying a second daylight lamp to go along with my current Neatfi (New Model) XL 2,500 Lumens LED Task Lamp with Clamp which I got on Amazon a few years ago and which I thoroughly recommend.

While the Neatfi is a bit pricey (135 quid) for a secondary light source, for a primary light source I find it ideal – I use it for doing a lot of late evening / late night painting (i.e. when the family goes to bed and I get a bit of peace and quiet!).

I did go in on the last Redgrass Kickstarter for the wet pallet and they did a great job – they do know their stuff. I might just jump in on this one if the price is right for me.

When the advert was in the magazine for the V2 of the wet pallette I couldnt help but be curious, honestly I’ve been fighting my lighting situation here at home when it comes to content for a while BUT whether this is the answer will come down to a few things, largely price as postage will likely be a killer to Australia but I have been watching this one for a while and its hard not to be invested

I do like the look of the lamp and the promises, but I’m unconvinced by redgrass.

I jumped in on their painthandles and got a wetpallet as add-on.
It all works, but I’m still struggling a bit with the painthandles as their putty doesn’t seem to hold the miniatures half as good as they advertised. They do feel nice in my hand while painting and I am looking to source some museum-wax as I’ve heard good things about that.
The wet-pallet is far from the magic item they advertised. I feel the sponge releases to little moisture through the paper and I’ve started to add some paper towels in between. Which works well enough, but I feel like I shouldn’t have to do that for that price. Also I think it is not nearly as airtight as advertised. Even a paint session the day after requires me to adjust the waterlevel.
Redgrass has so far failed to impress me. Their products aren’t worthless and I do still use them. I just feel they are less good than I would have hoped for, especially considering the price.

I am not sure what could go wrong on this lamp. Illumination could be less that perfect and it might have a wobbly hold on the painting table. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t keeping an eye out.
But maybe I should just look around for another better lamp than the one I currently have.

Honestly it was the putty that turned me off those, just never seem to have any luck with anything that required some kind of tack to use. They look really pretty though, the Game Envy ones always looked tempting as they just connect to bottle caps (nice upcycle feature but then you still have the issue of, well how to you connect them to the tops. -shrugs-

I’ll have a look when they launch already have a daylight lamp but could do with a second for where I use my airbrush. Surprised to hear people have had an issue with the putty for the paint handles. I’ve been using them for the last 18 months and have not had to change the original putty yet. Saying that when I’m attaching figures I usually based them either temporary or permanent on 2p coins (UK). This does give a bigger area to adhere to. Used for both metal and plastic figures and not had any problems.
