Moff Gideon Leads Dark Troopers In Atomic Mass’ Star Wars: Legion

Atomic Mass Games dropped another preview of what's coming next year for their games. This time around, we got a look at a new set of releases for Star Wars: Legion where Moff Gideon is leading his Dark Troopers in search of Grogu and hunting down The Mandalorian.

Moff Gideon drops into the game as a new Commander Expansion for Star Wars: Legion and the Empire. Taking command of the remnants of the Empire after Endor, he is still a deadly adversary and has plenty of support from his loyal followers. It also helps that he comes with the Darksaber which makes him a formidable adversary in combat but you can also swap that for a blaster if you prefer.
The miniature for Moff Gideon looks ace and certainly captures that moment where he is clambering out of his wrecked ship from the show. You could imagine him leading from the front on the battlefield.
Dark Troopers, Activate!
Moff Gideon isn't doing this alone though. He has also activated his unit of Dark Troopers, unthinking combat droids who fear nothing, be it blaster fire or the lightsaber of a Jedi.
Imperial Dark Troopers // Star Wars: Legion
You'll remember the terrifying Dark Troopers from The Mandalorian. You get a full unit of these brutal droids armed with the likes of an XS-IV Assault Cannon and an SM-9 Frag Launcher. There is also a Mertalizer Trooper in the mix there as well. In addition to the weaponry, the unit also comes with different programming upgrades which allow you to tailor how they fight on the tabletop.
With the Dark Troopers and Moff Gideon now available, you could actually look at playing out the hunt for Din Djarin and Grogu by The Empire on the tabletop in Star Wars: Legion.

Put together some interesting scenarios, either as full-blown battles or smaller skirmishes, where Din Djarin and Grogu are trying to avoid the clutches of Moff Gideon. You could even get your hands on a Luke Skywalker and do a bit of kitbashing to make him the cloaked individual who rescues them at the end of season one!

Ha, that’s not a new system so I am ordering the hell out of that… once retailer has it… For some odd reason AMG has decided to post this through social media with a link to asmodee shop and not a mention on their (AMG) own homepage… why?!
Their marketing (or rather, non-marketing) of the Star Wars games they took over from FFG has been absolutely bizarre. FFG had one of the most coveted licenses in the world, and was doing an absolutely marvellous job with it across multiple games. Their web team was always on top of things, providing regular updates and ensuring that their customers could always know exactly where to find news about new releases, rules updates, and a comprehensive product listing (complete with up-to-date information about when re-prints were scheduled for anything currently unavailable). they were incapable of producing more than three boxes to sell world wide at any time mind you.
I never had much problem getting hold of every release in the early days. Just a shame that bloated game design, pandering to the competitive players, and greedy price hikes killed the game.

yeah that pretty much sums it up. If I was a betting man I’d say “Corporate Daddy Asmodee” made the call to reduce all “unnecessary” stuff.

Now these are awesome and I need to buy them.
My only problem with AMG’s new Legion miniatures is they are designed like the Crisis Protocol miniatures. While putting one Crisis Protocol miniature is fine, putting together a unit takes a few hours, versus the original FFG minis that took like 30 minutes to put together a unit.
