Agema Miniatures Bolster Their Ancient 28mm Carthaginian Armies
November 4, 2022 by brennon
Agema Miniatures has been showing off some neat new releases for their 28mm Carthaginian collection. A couple of new sets popped up recently for your Ancient wargaming armies and there are also a few new miniatures on the horizon.
Carthaginian Sacred Band // Agema Miniatures
The first of these sets are for the Carthaginian Citizen Infantry or your Sacred Band. They have heavier and more expensive armour to keep them safe and there was a mix between Lamellar, Bronze Cuirass and Linothorax. It's neat to see so much research going into these miniatures when it comes to bringing them to life. The set was sculpted by Gary Morley and comes with six miniatures with Aspis/Hoplon but you'll need your own spears.
The second of the sets represents the Liby-Phoenicians.

You can use these as your Carthaginian veterans on the tabletop or indeed mix them in with your Sacred Band. You've got some slightly different armour variety here as well representing where they have been drawn from. This set, again, comes with some hefty shields but you'll need to source some spears. This set was sculpted by Stavros Zouliatis and matches up quite nicely to the first set.
Last but not least, recent Facebook previews showed off the new Carthaginian Citizen Infantry.

This marks a shift towards also working in the realm of 3D sculpting. This kit has come from Rob McFarlane and offers up some neat options for those looking to build up the rank and file within their Carthaginian army.
These fellows will come with Thureos Shields (plastic) and the miniatures themselves will be resin. They will be cheaper than the metal range but be a great way to build up a larger force. As always, plenty of research has gone into bringing them to life and you can learn more over on the Agema Miniatures Facebook Page.
Are you tempted by these new Carthaginians?

Great looking figures next stop Rome.
I love Agema miniatures. Fantastic research and really high quality sculps and castings. The resin 3D sculpts are a new departure and it will be interesting to see where they go with this.
