Read all of this before you start as it will save you any trouble later.

First thing you must do is make your “pledge”. It can be anything gaming related, big or small, and you don’t even have to finish it. No, in here, happiness is the road. Have fun doing whatever it is, but it is not a race. Accompany your work with pictures or we might think you are do something sinister and just using us for cover.

You are also presented with a few questions. It is to get the conversation started. Try and keep your answers ‘conversational’, no text speak, and certainly no “basically”. This is how we all get to know each other better. While you are here feel free to tell us a story, show a picture, joke, tales of love or woe, or just add your own little bit. This is the whole point…in here it is just us.

If you have never taken part before we may bark and bite, but we also like a cuddle! It is all done in the best possible taste and it is character building. feel free to give as good as you get.

A few other things to note: NO RELIGION & NO POLITICS! Glasgow pub rules are in effect. If you need to make a better point then it is fine, but don’t take the piss. And always keep it civil.

Play plenty of music to go with your work. Loud and through proper speakers. Write us a playlist of things we might not have heard before.

Now, after all of that there is only one ‘real’ rule in here and it cannot be broken: NO DICKS! (Exceptions may be made for little fighting men with little plastic/resin/metal wieners)

And don’t forget the highlights of the weekend: The Weekender on Friday and XLBS on Sunday. And the little show that is the unofficial Hobby Hangout over at twitch.tv

Happy Friday.

My pledge is to prepare and paint this ogre skeleton from Ral Partha.

Its needed for a scenario for Rangers of Shadow Deep and I think it’ll be quite a novelty to paint.

Do you care about Halloween at all?

Not really at all. Painting halloween themed miniature and watching a horror movie is the most I’ll do. I think most of it is very cheap and trashy.

Have you been taking care of yourself?

Mostly. I’ve been eating a bit more than I really should but otherwise I’m fine. I try go for walks often when it’s not raining.

Do you realise it’s just two more months until Christmas?

Work is underway on that and I hope to finish all Christmas shopping by the end of November.

Not really – we live up a steep hill so no trick or treaters here.

Have you been taking care of yourself?

I’m trying. Recovering from Covid this week so went for a lay down this afternoon which was a good idea. Self care is definitely the way to go.

Do you realise it’s just two more months until Christmas?

Yes. Not concerned, we start preparations early.

Pledge:

I’m trying to finish these Rohirrim from last week. They are ready for a dip this evening and then if I’m lucky they will be dry enough for final touches and a matt spray on Sunday.

It’s Saturday. Actually a pretty bad spot to be. The Weekender is done and XLBS still far away. Are there any hobby related podcast or video updates that happen on Saturday? Seems like they all take a day off XD

I’m a creature of habit and as far as I’m concerned the Weekender doesn’t show in this house until Saturday so I still have that pleasure to come. I’m all distracted with planning forces for the new SAGA: Age of Alexander as my copy arrived on Thursday. Perhaps you can find something similar to distract yourself with @sundancer ? Not long to go until Xenos Rampant comes out. The North Star newsletter has some sample forces for rebels and imperial troops which might be of interest to someone of a Star Wars inclination as you’ve probably already got forces ready to go.

I’m about half way through this and it’s a very fun watch, particularly reading Crispin’s comments in the chat. I’m sorry I missed it live.

Same here. I don’t watch the Weekender until I get home after work in Saturday after, because for me, the weekend starts then.

@sundancer There’s a fairly new podcast where the host reads a short story from the original run of Warhammer fiction from the late 80 to early 90s, some of the early Gotrek and Felix stories and other stuff from the anthologies like Ignorant Armies and Wolf Riders. After the story he talks a little about it. He does a good job reading it with different voices etc.

Just search for “The Oldhammer Fiction Podcast” and you should find it.

Work is progressing nicely on Mr Skeleton Ogre. He mostly chainmail and bone so I should have him done by tomorrow evening.

Here’s my finished skeleton ogre all painted up.

Not sure what I’m going to paint next. I’ll have a look at my to do pile and pick something that inspires me, or I could work on some terrain.
