October 21, 2022 by brennon
Free League Publishing this week announced they are working with Andy Chambers and Tomas Härenstam to bring a miniature wargame to the tabletop! Zone Wars for Mutant: Year Zero offers up some multiplayer miniature mayhem on the tabletop and is coming to Kickstarter soon.

Check Out The Zone Wars Kickstarter Page
Designed for between two and four players, Zone Wars has you taking control of a band of mutant Stalkers as they head out into the Zone looking for artefacts and more. Based on the Mutant: Year Zero roleplaying game, Zone Wars will be compatible with it allowing you to bring your roleplaying characters to the battlefield or vice versa.

The Kickstarter will be going live on 1st November and will include two boxes of miniatures plus paper terrain, rules, cards, dice and more. They have also mentioned that there is no assembly required when it comes to building the miniatures so that's also grand for those coming over from the roleplaying game.

Additionally, a FREE and playable print-and-play PDF for Zone Wars will be made available for you to download straight after the launch of the Kickstarter over on the funding page. This all sounds very intriguing and means that you can give the game a go before you pledge using whatever miniatures you have lying around.
With Andy Chambers on board who has a pedigree in Necromunda, Battlefleet Gothic and Dropfleet Commander, this has certainly piqued my interest. It's also coming out of Free League and they tend to make some pretty darn awesome products.
Are you going to be keeping an eye on Zone Wars when the Kickstarter launches on 1st November?

Really like the setting for MYZ so I’ll keep an eye for this one. Don’t do KS much anymore but at least being a FL you know it will be supported after crowd funding. Free League products are great quality and usually are pretty easy to teach. Be interested to see what a wargame is like for them, how many of the RPG mechanics crosses over etc.
I’ll take a peek… but not more. I think.
Never played the RPG but watched people play the videogame and that seemed fun.
Steam already has this on my wishlist and I have yet to drop into Gamma World for the progenitor or Dungeon Crawler Classic for the post-apoc setting. I would go after the minis alone but I have a strict hold on my mini budget for the moment.
This “designed for two to four players” is killing me. Yet another thing I’d like to throw money at, but won’t as I’m not picking a family member to sit and watch while the other 4 of us play.
Ooh nice figures for apocalypse game’s like drowned earth or fallout to name two or even X-Men.
I don’t know much about Mutant Year Zero the RPG. This has sort of a Gamma World feel to me.
Fan of the system. Since u can build ur own Mutant char in the RPG System I wonder if there will be some kind of customisible Mutie kit.
The PC Game IS cool
IS a mix from Fallout, tmnt and xcom
Complete #wierdshit bit i do love some of those minis, just for looking at for me though.
