Victorian Sci-Fi by denzien

Leading the way this time around, we're taking a look at some of the work by denzien who has been tinkering with some Victorian Sci-Fi. An old Martian Empires collection has been combined with some new models like the Bulldogs from Wargames Atlantic to create a really fun collection for gaming on the tabletop.

As well as that, the collection also features some awesome kitbashes using Wild West miniatures and more, allowing denzien to make some very fun miniatures for use when heading to Mars. It's been really fun seeing how these Sci-Fi and Historical kits can be mashed together, offering up some fun ideas.

I don't think we see enough folks dipping their toe into the world of Victorian Sci-Fi so it's always nice seeing projects like this. It's fun to see the miniatures getting painted up of course but it's also good to see them in situ. The red bases look a bit odd without the context but when you see them on the surface of Mars, it suddenly gels really nicely.

Some of the more recent miniatures include some Prussian Clockwork Men which will fill in the space of Robots in games of Stargrave. I do think Stargrave is a solid option when it comes to rules for playing Victorian Sci-Fi as you can do some neat things with the game to make it fit the sub-genre that you like.

Again, a brilliant set of miniatures and a really fun idea. The Clockwork Men look superb and I like how their cold metal bodies work very nicely against the warmth of the bases and the tabletop itself. They have a neat sinister quality to them!

The Martian Free State, British and Prussians have headed off into space and if you want to see more, there is a breakdown of the specialists in there as well. So, if you're wanting some inspiration for a new Stargrave adventure, why not check out this?

Afrika Korps by harry711

Next up, we're getting Historical with harry711 who has been painting up some Afrika Korps for use during World War II and games of Bolt Action. These have been coming together nicely for a while.

These plastic miniatures are looking great and I am a big fan of the scheme being used. The darker tones have a distinctly more "Historical" feel to them and you could almost see these being snapshots of soldiers taken by a camera during the period. It's decidedly stylised to a degree but I think it works very well indeed.

These miniatures have come together superb quickly and I think when they are all together, the look is great. What's nice is that the sand/stones that you see on the bases actually come from harry711's adventures in Crete recently. So, it seems apt to use them on these North African/Mediterranean soldiers.

So many of these miniatures have come together in short order. Some of the more recent additions to the collection have also been given some tufts as you see here. I think these add a bit more character to the bases and they were certainly a good bonus addition to these miniatures. I would be very happy to see these miniatures popping up on the other side of the table from me.

SAGA: Age Of Invasions by zoidpinhead

Last but not least we have a very fortuitous addition to a project by zoidpinhead. I have been mulling over (heck, I've ordered it now) an Arthurian army for a while and so it was awesome to see the Footsore Miniatures mounted model pop up in their project.

The finish for Arthur and his banner bearer here is subline and I think the use of yellow, purple and that deep red works so nicely when giving him a kingly quality. He sits very nicely alongside his banner bearer and you can immediately get a sense of how important he is.

This has very much enthused me to get my own miniatures painted up. I guess I need to get them out onto the tabletop and undercoated! I also have to tip my cap to the wonderful basing for these miniatures as well. It gives off a very nice English countryside vibe.

Another miniature that got entered into the recent project entry was Belisarius and I think this fellow looks equally as awesome. There is some wonderful work there on the blending of the shield.

Whilst I do like the look of the miniature as a whole, I am still utterly wowed by the look of Arthur and his companion. If you're looking for some inspiration when it comes to Arthurian wargaming, this is the project to take a look at!
